Citizen Kane and Titanic might have an artistic and popular monopoly on greatness, but when it comes to sitting down to a strictly enjoyable film, give me The North Avenue Irregulars any day. What you hold in your hand now is a collection of behind the scenes essays dealing with the unheralded wonders of my youth. I am nobody, but I do have a publishing company, so please excuse the one vanity project you now read. However, I think you're going to find some really good stuff here. If you, like me are a true fan of ignored classics like The Shaggy DA and The Good Fairy, then this is going to be a book you will treasure. I tried to collect up a group of my favorite films that have not been covered much in print before, then asked a few good writers I knew if they would be interested in writing chapters on each, with a particular emphasis on how the films were made and interviews with any cast or crew they could catch, rather than just criticism. I am pleased with this book and hope you will be too. - Ben Ohmart

The hook is simple: everyone knows that the character of Dracula was based on Vlad "the Impaler" Tepes. The trouble is, he never died. Hollywood, Random House, the Lugosi estate, Francis Ford Coppola, everyone owes him big time forcashing in on his likeness.Tallahassee, Florida might seem like the dumbest place to start a major lawsuit against pretty much the known world, but Vlad, an actual vampire, is more concerned with shaking things up than staying predictable. He has definite goals in mind...The Rerun of Dracula, written with the complete support of the Tepes estate, is the first true chronicle of a dynamic individual with a great mustache and a legitimate reason to sue.Ben Ohmart is the author of several biographies of voice actors, including Paul Frees and Mel Blanc, and runs the smallpublishing house, BearManor Media.

The official biography of the Oscar-winning actor of Cocoon, and the great radio actor, Don Ameche. Written with the aid of the Ameche family, this first book features over 100 rare photos and many interviews with family and friends. Foreword by John Landis, director of Trading Places. With over 100 pictures! "Wonderful book! Your writing captured the dimension of Ameche during the years when he was at his best. We all thank you for that. You captured his sensitivity." - - Ted Key, creator of Hazel, and Disney screenwriter "...pleasing new biography. It's a lineaer, clearly written book, based in large part on the author's privileged access to Ameche family members and papers. Ohmart has dug out career and personal nuggets that give intriguing pictures of Ameche (a more complex man than his fans ever imagined), of a changing Hollywood, and the perils of mixing career ambition with responsibilities as a husband and father. Author Ben Ohmart (also the founder of Bear Manor books) has put together a touching biography--not in the sentimental sense, but in its clear-eyed view of how one man and his family struggled against the vicissitudes of Hollywood life. This is a very human book about a superb talent." - Filmfax
