Plundering innocent worlds; that is Doc Roberts' job and he is good at it. He is awarded a Letter of Marque and a territory to hunt in exchange for his service to the Alliance and of course, a cut of his take. The Alliance government can't openly operate in Coalition territory without starting another war, so they use privateers like Captain Roberts to destabilize governments and cause unease among the people, in hopes that they will ask for Alliance protection.Cheating and treachery cause Captain Roberts to reevaluate his loyalty. The fleet of battle-hardened refugees, led by Nathaniel Roberts has made it through the wormhole, but not without a part of the fleet being left behind. After restoring power and making repairs, he is ready to choose a path for his search for the Sol system and the ancestral home of his people, Earth. The first beings the fleet encounters are the Drax. First, a malfunction with the multidimensional drive has us arriving in the Sol System late. Then my ship is swallowed by a giant space fish. This is a comedy, thriller, space opera, and Christmas story all rolled into one exciting story for adults. It is Nathaniel's second Christmas and Doc Roberts' last chance to get the Spirit of Christmas. He will be revisited by the Kringles, and see the dreaded space freighter, Santa's Little Helper, again. Good news! He has moved down a few notches on the naughty list, but not far enough to satisfy his wife, Elaunae. She wants her husband on the good list. Yah, don't count on it happening. After all, he is a pirate. It isn't in his nature, but she has to try. Doc will be visited by two ghosts from the past. Not his mother or father. They are still alive, and enjoying retirement, living in luxury on the Alliance retirement world, Luxor III. He sees an eerie apparition of Captain Ryder. That is impossible, he killed him, himself, fifteen years ago. Then he sees and converses with Su'Gateol, his wife's former husband, who warns him that he will be visited by three spirits, Christmas Past, Present, and Future. Can they save him, or will he continue to be a scumbag? His getting into the spirit of Christmas is going to take a miracle.
Freshly graduated and commissioned, Space Marine Lt. Carrie Piper, already contending with inter-service rivalry with the Navy crewmen with whom she serves, is tasked with retrieving an asteroid made of pure thorium from the asteroid belt and bringing it to Earth for use as fissionable material. She is opposed by agents of the Confederation of Peoples Governments, who will do anything, even risk starting an interstellar war, to seize control and take possession of the asteroid.
This is Nathaniel's and Persephone's first official assignment from Bob, the Lord of Creation for this universe. They can't afford to screw it up. The job sounds simple enough. Travel to the Rekar'ree star system, find the source of evil and stop it from spreading to the other neighboring star systems. The only problem is that Rekar'ree is on the other side of the galaxy.Bob provided them with a solution. He has devised a stargate, of sorts, for them to use. All Nathaniel and Persephone have to do is pilot their ship to the Antares star system, and fly through the black hole. It sounds easy enough, but nothing escapes a black hole, and Persephone's explanation about what is going to happen to them doesn't help; neither does the AI's carelessness. When they get to Rekar'ree. It is evident that Bob made a mistake. There is no way that the planet can sustain life. All Nathaniel has to do is make a quick orbit, and run a few sensor scans to prove that no one is there.High above the surface of the second planet are dirigibles, the size of cities, floating in the atmosphere. Their job just got a little bit more complicated. When they met Tempek'kee, it will get a lot worse. He and his acolytes are evil and must be dealt, permanently.Dealing with the s.o.b. and his goons isn't the end. It is the beginning. Tempek'kee's employer, Hyperion Corporation also has to be dealt with too.Persephone's half-sister, Aphrodite, let Nathaniel know that she is interested in him, and she did it right in front of Persephone. Nathaniel wants her too. What man wouldn't want to lay with the Goddess of Love? Can he resist her charms? Does he have too? Is there a way to have her and stay faithful to Persephone? This story has plenty of science fiction in it as well as gods and goddesses. They are not omnipotent nor are they invincible, and they have their problems too. This book has plenty of action, horrific acts, and humor. It is written so it can be read as part of the Space Rogue series or independent of it. I hope you enjoy it.
