Although arranged marriage and the role played by the matchmaker are still prevalent in some regions and communities, their impact on individual preferences is negligible. With changes in lifestyles, such traditional customs have been replaced by blind dates, social media, and commercial matchmakers. Nevertheless, the human elements that form the needs of women and men are universal. Only the details and consequences may vary from one culture to another or from one place to the other.
