So bloody sweet, I'll give you tooth decay.Call off the search party, here I am. Candy Crystal is back for another round with my Gambler's Monarchs. And don't be mistaken, they are mine. All mine. With the Monarchs fractured, I need to use my best moves to bring the whole biker gang back home. My best moves being reverse cowgirl, the upside down corkscrew and the underestimated cupid's arrow. Unfortunately, my appeal doesn't stretch as far as the stray who has latched onto one of my men. A charming, cunning killer to be exact. This house isn't big enough for the two of us. I'm a b!tch who knows her way around a bone, so this slutty snake had better watch her back. Did I also mention she's trying to kill me? Unless Angus and I get to her first. The Monarchs may be blind but I know an assassin when I see one. Some say I'm delusional, others use the term disturbingly obsessive. I prefer protective, and the Candy Crusher isn't my sole possession anymore. The claws are out, the game is on.Trigger Warning: This is book two of the I Love Candy series, featuring a feisty female lead. Candy is spontaneous, impulsive and reckless, which makes this book inappropriate for under 18's. She gives as good as she gets, causing chaos and leaves you wondering who is bullying who! Expect excessive amounts of steam, violence and cursing throughout. This series is a RH trilogy with a HEA...eventually.
So damn sweet, I cause cavities.S'up? I'm Candy. Excuse the name. Mom was a stripper back in her prime and I was a client gone wrong. Now stuck behind the bar, she was eager for me to join the family business. No thanks. The only circles I run in are the ones my bubblegum bubbles make. Don't worry about my teeth though, sugar-free as always. I'm not a complete psycho. Oh, except for my passive-aggressive, potty-mouthed, imaginary best friend who happens to be a gummy bear. That part is pretty nuts.I was thoroughly enjoying myself, doing whatever the hell I wanted until a group of model-worthy bikers try to muscle in on my heist. They don't seem to realise those with barely any personal belongings tend to grow protective of what's theirs, and by taking one of my beloved possessions, they've signed their own death warrants.Fooling them with a sickly sweet smile, I'll slip past their defences and claim back what's rightfully mine, no matter the cost. Putting bullies back in their place when no one else can is my speciality. No one screws over Candy Crystal twice. P.S, yeah - stripper name game is on point.Trigger Warning: This is book one of the I Love Candy series, featuring a feisty female lead. Candy is spontaneous, impulsive and reckless, which makes this book inappropriate for under 18's. She gives as good as she gets, causing chaos and leaves you wondering who is bullying who! The follow-up to Booker-listed literary sensation Solar Bones is a terse metaphysical thriller, named a most anticipated book of the year by The Guardian, The Irish Times, and The New Statesman. Nealon returns from prison to his house in the West of Ireland to find it empty. No heat or light, no sign of his wife or child. It is as if the world has forgotten or erased him. Then he starts getting calls from a man who claims to know what's happened to his family-a man who'll tell Nealon all he needs to know in return for a single meeting. In a hotel lobby, in the shadow of an unfolding terrorist attack, Nealon and the man embark on a conversation shot through with secrets and evasions, a verbal game of cat and mouse that leaps from Nealon's past and childhood to the motives driving a series of international crimes launched against "a world so wretched it can only be redeemed by an act of revenge." McCormack's existential noir is a terse and brooding exploration of the connections between rural Ireland and the globalized cruelties of the twentyfirst century. It is also an incisive portrait of a young and struggling family, and a ruthless interrogation of what we owe to those nearest to us, and to the world at large.

"A work of fiction that is both a potent portrait of early 19th-century Edinburgh but also a story about female agency or the lack of it. The result is a compelling, painful, haunted piece of work." THE HERALDUp the close and down the stair, meet the women of Burke and HareEdinburgh, 1828. Two women - one rich, one poor - must navigate life against a frenzied backdrop of medical discovery, mob mayhem, and murder. The home Helen shares in the slums of the Old Town with her lover William Burke could hardly be more different from Susan's dreams of an affluent existence as the wife of Robert Knox, one of the foremost anatomists of the day. But as people begin disappearing, these two very different women face an impossible choice. Should they protect what lives they have or tell the truth about what they know? This is the story of the notorious serial killings of Burke and Hare, told for the first time through the eyes of two very different women, whose stories explore the depths of the human heart in a perilous, vulnerable world.PRAISE FOR THE SPECIMENS"Beguiling and atmospheric, this is as much an engrossing character study as a bold reimagining of the infamous anatomy murders." HEAT MAGAZINE"A fresh, feminine take on the horrors of Burke and Hare and their complicit Edinburgh anatomists" SALLY MAGNUSSON"Gruesomely gripping, this story will stay with you for a long time, its characters so well developed, you fear you might bump into one in a dark Edinburgh close" SUE LAWRENCE"Mairi Kidd holds a lantern up to the brutality of women's lives in Burke, Hare and Knox's Edinburgh. She draws a fine thread between women's bodily experiences now and then, and her voice is so authentic I felt as if I was there" LUCY RIBCHESTER

Theodore Dreiser's book "The Financier" was first released in 1912. Dreiser's Trilogy of Desire begins with this work and continues with "The Titan" and "The Stoic." The story examines Frank Cowperwood's ascent and decline as the main character against the backdrop of American finance and industry in the late 19th century. The narrative, which takes place in Philadelphia, follows gifted and aspirational banker Frank Cowperwood as he makes his way through the convoluted worlds of finance, business, and social expectations. Cowperwood engages in a number of financial scams and endeavors, such as stock and streetcar company transactions, as a result of his unwavering quest of cash and success. The story explores the moral and ethical ramifications of Cowperwood's choices, illustrating how they affected his relationships and personal life. The protagonist encounters obstacles and moral conundrums that finally lead to his demise as he accumulates wealth and power. "The Financier" reflects on the intricacies of human ambition, the business world's brutality, and the American Dream. Dreiser offers a thorough and frequently critical analysis of the social and economic dynamics at work throughout the Gilded Age. His naturalistic writing style reflects the complexities of society and human nature.
