Love waits patiently. Hate lingers in the cold. The way home takes Ignatz through thigh-deep snow, but he doesn't hesitate. Aunt Ruth would be waiting. She was always waiting with her bitter comments and scathing glares. He would have preferred to go in the other direction, back to town and then onwards to freedom, but he'd made a promise and Ignatz would keep it no matter what. Except night will bring death with it and Ignatz is too far away to reach Aunt Ruth in time. There is, however, the old apple tree outside the ruined temple, sitting in its hole in the snow. Shelter is shelter. Except when it's something else entirely.

Tuesday Morning: Watertown Project BluechipMajor Richard WestonHe read the report twice and then carefully set it back on his desk. Johns or Kohlson: One of the two had stolen samples of SS-V2765. It was not a question. No one else had the access, no one else the proximity or knowledge of where it was stored. Two of the virus, one each of the REX agents were missing. Enough to infect several million people, and that was just the initial infection. From there the infected would go on to infect even more, where it stopped was anyone's guess.Knowing it was one of the two did not solve the problem of how for him though: There should have been no way to get it out. Every area of the facility was under surveillance. There had to be more than just one of the two involved. From Complex C they were stripped down, showered: Out of the showers naked and into a locker room where they could retrieve their own personal clothing they had stripped out of that morning: Dressed, frisked, metal wanded and then allowed into the elevators that would take them six stories to the surface. This theft was not something either of them could have committed alone."Alice." He picked up the report from his desk. "I have a problem... A problem that requires your... Expertise. Two fold... First, all the guard and camera operators for C Complex are to be relieved of duty. You will personally interrogate them and find out which of them took a payoff to look the other way... Our boys, Johns and Kohlson... Both or one, smuggled out the virus." He paused... "It hardly matters in the scheme of things, it changes nothing, but it is the principle of the thing." He tossed her the report. "Read it... Quartermasters office... Handle that too?" Alice nodded before she bent and looked over the thick report. "Second thing is the virus agent and the REX agent are out there somewhere." Alice raised her head from the report. "Find it and bring it back?" Alice nodded once more before her head dipped low again. Eyes devouring the report. Weston leaned back in his chair, the cigar that was a near permanent fixture in his mouth, rolling from side to side as he closed his eyes and rubbed at his temples. "It goes without saying... They're all expendable," he added as an afterthought."Sir," Alice said before she returned to reading...Watertown is a mixed tale. It tells the story leading up to the Apocalypse. That tale includes the story of Billy Jingo, Alice Tetto, Major Weston's private secretary. Ben Neo and Jimmy West, hired Killers, and a drug deal designed to hide the transfer of a top secret drug stolen from the Underground Bluechip facility, that goes very wrong...

The first book in a brand new series... Modern Living Legend, a modern-day twist on the tales of myths and legends of yonder years. Suedette Greenwood unexpectedly became Lady of Greenwood Manor fresh out of university three years ago. Up until recently, Suede had nestled into her responsibilities without fault, opened a tea shop in the village and signed a publishing deal, writing and illustrating children's books. Life wasn't quite how Suede had expected it to turn out; alas, whose life ever really does? As the autumn leaves doth change and fall, the world around Suedette becomes strange. It could affect us all... Modern Living Legend is an amalgamation of tales of Olde -- told to the author as a child - and the mind of a true artist, who mixed the pallet of Myth, Legend, Ancestry and Magick to create a whole new world for all to see.

From the author of the Gods Are Bastards series comes a new isekai adventure, in which a man is granted sinister powers he doesn't even want. On a typical day, on an average train platform, two warring sister goddesses found their avatars. One avatar, the young Yoshi, was swept away to the world of Ephemera to be a great hero of honor, courage, and light. The other, the not-so-young Seiji, was swept away to become a dark lord out to kill or conquer all in his path. But Seiji is in absolutely no mood for that nonsense. It's bad enough that on Earth he was a closed-off, misanthropic grouch with zero patience for other people. Now he's supposed to muster enough of a give-a-damn to lead vile hordes, crush Yoshi, and take all of Ephemera as his own? No thanks. Unfortunately, he doesn't have a choice. Seiji's patron goddess wants results, and if he doesn't deliver, she's going to take a serious interest in discovering his pain, suffering, and overall misery threshold. But just because he doesn't care about people, doesn't mean he doesn't care whether they suffer by his own hand. After all, just because you're the embodiment of ultimate evil doesn't mean you have to be a jerk about it. The first volume of the hit fantasy adventure series--with more than five million views on Royal Road--now available on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and Audible!

An A-list Space Ranger force with a reputation for trouble lands in the middle of a multifaceted war in the second book of this military space opera series. Capt. Ben Dailey knows his team will always get the job done--no matter what it takes . . . or what rules they have to break. Whenever the Federation is threatened, they're one of the first units to the front lines to save their comrades' skin, salvage important assets, and kick some invader ass. But when Dailey's ship, the USF Murphy, is sent to the edge of the Void to help a planet under attack, what should be a simple rescue-and-recon mission turns out to be a political quagmire with potentially apocalyptic consequences. It seems the Federation and their otherworldly archnemeses, the Alurians, aren't the only ones fighting for territory. Several shadowy syndicates running mining and shipping operations out in the uncharted regions of the Void are meddling in the perilous interspecies conflict. Now, Dailey and his crew, with the help of a quippy AI from an ancient civilization and a mercenary Alurian just trying to get home, must travel to the other side of the galactic core to uncover the attackers and determine their motivation--before these small-planet skirmishes break into all-out interstellar war. Blending heart-pounding action, firsthand military know-how, and irresistibly charming characters, Lost Horizons is a brilliant addition to a unique sci-fi series that's guaranteed to thrill fans of Stargate and the Collapsing Empire and Expeditionary Force series.

Humanity is divided between those who have chosen a simulated existence and those seeking life among the stars in this far-future science-fiction adventure. The Beta Explorers have succeeded in their mission of terraforming planets to establish human colonies across the galaxy. But as the inhabitants of these new worlds come of age to govern themselves, their ambition plateaus and stagnates. Instead of continuing to pursue scientific advancement and space travel in the physical Betaverse, many prefer the simulated environment of the Metaverse, where they can live innumerable immortal lives, free from illness and harm. Separated from her fellow Betas, who individually transformed one world at a time, Angelique Komene cloned herself and produced hundreds of habitable planets. Through her clones, the Ange Angels, she has guided billions to create democratic societies. But when her people start embracing the Metaverse, one colony after another, the clones make a startling discovery: a virus code-designed to influence the humans under their care to reject science in reality-was uploaded into the Betas' simulated minds before their terraforming mission even began, presumably the work of the authoritarian government, which outlawed space exploration to keep humanity contained in the Metaverse. Now, it is up to Angelique and the Betas to implement an antivirus to purge the contagion and reclaim their autonomy from Earth once and for all. But what if the virus did not originate on Earth after all? It seems an alien civilization has been spreading its own colonies across the universe. And if humans do not return to their home planet, the aliens may destroy the entire race . . . The second volume of the hit science-fiction adventure series-originally released on Royal Road and perfect for fans of Bobiverse and Children of Time-now available on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and Audible!

As Earth's biome crumbles, humanity fails to develop the technologies necessary to stop an impending climate disaster. Faced with widespread starvation and environmental ruin, a radical faction seeks to preserve a segment of humankind by unleashing a deadly virus, targeting the vast heterosexual majority in a drastic attempt to reduce the population and save the planet. However, this extreme measure falls short of halting the escalating environmental catastrophe. With the planet deteriorating rapidly, the remnants of humanity embark on a daring exodus. They set off on a 6,000-year journey to the nearest habitable planet outside our solar system. This epic voyage, devoid of star or warp drive, demands a completely self-sustaining environment, where everything, including the colonists themselves, must be recycled. Amidst this backdrop, one man finds himself an outsider on this formidable journey, constrained by strict rules governing all aspects of life, including reproduction, which is meticulously controlled to preserve the colony's genetic health. Defying these regulations, he forms a clandestine relationship, leading to the conception of an unauthorized child. This grave breach of protocol poses a moral dilemma for the crew: how should they deal with this infraction, and what consequences will their decision have for the future of their fragile society? This narrative explores the complexities of survival, ethics, and human relationships in the face of a daunting interstellar challenge.

Everybody will surely agree: Birthdays are fun. Hiking with friends in the forest is fun. Being young, reckless, and stupid is fun. Being curious is simply being human. And being human is considered to be fun, right? And since the day of your creation seems to always be something you want to relive, how about living it so many times you wish you were never born? Hi, I seriously wish I wasn't. "I feel like I'm going crazy. Either that or I'm in hell." I'm not a devout believer because no religion entices me like the bold effort it takes to be responsible for my own actions. Alas, I felt like I was in hell. Except, as a normal human being, I liked to exaggerate. After all, I'm not exactly to blame for not knowing I would turn up in a poor excuse of the fiery hole twenty-three deaths later.
