"Si Horacio tuvo, por mecenas, la finca de la Sabina, y el conquense-salmantino se deleitaba por La Flecha, a orillas del Tormes, Luis Cruz-Villalobos tiene en Poñén (al sur de Chile, en la provincia de Concepción), su infaltable lugar de quietud, de retiro del bullicio de Santiago [...] Estos días cuando el frío empieza a dejar constancia por el Cono Sur, Luis ha estado de nuevo por esos parajes a los que, desde 2007, viene cantando por lo mucho que sirven para su sosiego espiritual y para la conciliación familiar, pues allí siempre va con su esposa e hijos. Escribí estos sonetos en una pieza que arrendaba para hospedarme, en una casona del barrio de Almagro, ciudad de Buenos Aires, Argentina, en el año 2003. En el año 2001, año de la crisis institucional argentina, año del "corralito"; me había radicado en Buenos Aires, con mi guitarra y mis sueños de cantautor. En ese entonces tomé el "Curso de Composición de Canciones" dictado por el cantautor Adrián Abonizio, de la Trova Rosarina, en el Centro Cultural Ricardo Rojas, dependiente de la Universidad de Buenos Aires. Mi canción "Historia de aquel sueño" es de ese momento. Armé este libro de Sonetos y Canciones como un modo de celebrar la proximidad de mi aniversario número 33, a manera de cierre, resumen o corolario de una etapa de mi vida. Años atrás, en 1995, había leido, por sugerencia del cantautor Pedro Aznar, el libro (póstumo) "Reflexiones sobre la vida" del mitólogo Joseph Campbell adónde afirmaba: "El arte son alas para salir de nuestros embrollos". Mi canción "De pie ante tu abismo" surgió inspirada en las hermosas reflexiones alentadoras de Campbell. Escribir y hacer libros ha sido, para mí, un modo de hallar eje en medio del torbellino del caos de la vida en esta sociedad humana en tensión, conflicto y cambio permanentes. El foco en escribir me da centro y me permite autoobservarme, reflexionar y, con ello, corregirme lo necesario. En estos Sonetos y Canciones está expresado mi trayecto de vida, de manera selectiva, desde mi nacimiento hasta mis 33 años. Comparto al lector de este libro estos fragmentos de mi intimidad.
