CHANGES: Welcome to the Age of Aquarius, the age of change, enlightenment and liberation. This is an age when old paradigms are crumbling and new ways of thinking are emerging. It is an age when we are finally beginning to understand our true potential as human beings. As a poet, I believe that it is my role to reflect the changing times and to inspire people to dream big. In this book of poems, I celebrate changes, the Age of Aquarius and the amazing possibilities that lie ahead. I also challenge the reader to think about what it means to be a great poet. Is it about technical mastery? Is it about originality? Is it about the ability to connect with people on a deep emotional level? In my opinion, the greatest poets are those who help us to see the world in a new way. They challenge our assumptions and expand our consciousness. They help us to understand ourselves and each other better. I believe that this book of poems has the potential to do just that. I invite you to read these poems with an open mind and heart.
The Last Vestige of Old Pittsburgh rekindles the age-old fire that burns inside the beautifully imperfect souls who suffer hard labor and hard love. In his eighth poetry collection, Ron Gavalik excavates long-forgotten soot from underneath sidewalks and uses those remains as ink to illustrate the struggles of this modern life. On this never-ending quest for survival, the reader must traverse over many rocky hillsides. Together, we will inhale uncomfortable truths and then exhale the wisdom of solidarity. Only with a well-earned fortitude of the spirit can one dream deeper, fight longer, and cast off the heavy burdens that shroud lesser souls.

The journey began with the initial release of the book in 2016, and since then, the ideas behind this book have evolved. This collection of poems delves into the enchantment of reality and the reality of enchantment. It's a treasury of poems infused with contemplative humor. In this renewed edition, many of the poems have undergone a significant transformation, carefully reworked to resonate with the ever-shifting landscapes of today's world. Cosmic butterflies, a whimsical metaphor for our deepest dreams, fantasies, visions, and ultimate life goals, flutter through the very fabric of our existence. Much like the ethereal and delicate creatures they evoke, these aspirations are a source of boundless beauty and wonder in our lives. They represent the profound yearnings that drive us forward, the aspirations that stretch the limits of our imagination, and the relentless pursuit of that which makes us feel most alive. In the grand tapestry of human existence, we are all cosmic butterfly chasers. These dreams, whether they involve achieving personal success, experiencing profound love, making a lasting impact on the world, or simply finding happiness, are the threads that weave our life stories. They inspire us to spread our wings and venture into the unknown, to dance with the possibilities of the cosmos, and to embrace the extraordinary potential that resides within each of us. As we chase these cosmic butterflies, we not only discover the brilliance of our own existence but also contribute to the ever-evolving narrative of the universe itself. As a special treat, I have included a section at the end of the book containing my analysis of fifteen of the book's poems. As a preface, the poems in this book reflect my desire for rhyme and musicality in my life. The writing of this collection was guided by this desire. Don Iannone

Ralph Hooten's book of poetry was born from a sense of urgency. It is a creative flood of words that has nowhere else to go but down the drain...or hopefully to the reader's brain. It will make you weep, cause you confusion, stir up anger, and force you to react. The words are often chaotic and miss their intended target - imagine a fireworks show gone wrong. This was Hooten's intent; to challenge the reader to use their imagination, or get out while they can. "I think this is the best writing he has ever done." - his mom.

Two things surprised me when I first read about Fernando Pessoa while in America. First, here the great poet was known mostly by his prose volume known as "The Book of Disquiet." Second, the great poems most cited included "Salutation to Walt Whitman" and "Maritime Ode."Where was the poet and the poets, Caeiro, Campos and Reis? And where were lines such as "the poet is a sham" or "I am nothing, I will never be but nothing. I can't wish but to be nothing. Aside from this, I have in me every dream in the world" or "To be great, be whole" or "To think of God is to disobey God," - lines that I could find in my memory after all those years?I then realized that to bring together the Pessoa that populated my adolescent imagination I would have to collect them and thus this series was created. This is not an academic exercise, this is not professional translation, this is a work of love and Saudade. This is a way to introduce a Pessoa I met and left deep marks in my existence to my American children and friends. This is a way to collect the poems I encountered as an adolescent in Fortaleza in the 1990s and that have been in my soul with me since. Two things surprised me when I first read about Fernando Pessoa while in America.
