This book presents a detailed discussion of the models that were developed to simulate the collapse and post-collapse behavior of steel pipes. The finite element method offers to engineers the possibility of developing models to simulate the collapse behavior of casings inside oil wells and the collapse behavior of deepwater pipelines.

  • av Fawaz Aladwani
    527,-

This book presents fused deposition modeling (FDM) which is an additive manufacturing (AM) process to fabricate 3D parts from a build-up of 2D layers. The chapters present an experimental analysis of fatigue characteristics of FDM-processed PLA samples. The results indicate that the concentric build orientation provides highest cycles of fatigue, ultimate strength, and impact energy. The effect of layer orientation on the fatigue behavior of 3D-printed PLA samples is investigated in this case study.

  • av Reza Beygi

This book introduces basic concepts related to computer-aided simulation of welding and prepares the reader to perform the simulation of welding by commercial simulation software. It focuses on conceptualizing the physics of welding, heat transfer, stress development and microstructure development in welding. This book helps the reader to implement these concepts in any commercial software to simulate the welding process according to their own requirement.

  • av Arshad Afzal
    654,-

This book illustrates the computational framework based on knowledge of flow and mass transfer together with optimization techniques to solve problems relevant to micromixing technology.

  • - Cardiac Flow Visualization Techniques
    av Alberto Pozo Alvarez
    647,-

Finally, the techniques most used to visualize cardiac flows and validate numerical models are detailed, paying special attention to Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) in case of an in vivo validation and Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) for an in vitro validation.

  • av Khameel B. Mustapha
    597,-

This book addresses the static and dynamic analysis of linear elastic size-dependent structures based on the modified couple stress theory. It focuses on establishing the governing equations of the size-dependent structures, deriving the associated finite element models, and implementing those models using the R programming language.

  • - An Introduction Based on the Computer Algebra System Maxima
    av Andreas Ochsner
    567,-

This book is intended as an essential study aid for the finite element method.

  • av Teyfik Demir
    654,-

This brief book systematically discusses all subjects that affect the pullout strength of pedicle screws. The holding strength of the pedicle screw is vital since loosening of the pedicle screws can cause revision surgeries.

  • - Effect of Design Parameters
av Amir Putra Bin Md Saad
    654,-

This book develops and analyses computational wear simulations of the total ankle replacement for the stance phase of gait cycle. The emphasis is put on the relevant design parameters. The book presents a model consisting of three components; tibial, bearing and talar representing their physiological functions.

  • av Sadegh Imani Yengejeh, Seyedeh Alieh Kazemi & Andreas OEchsner
    725,-

This volume presents a comprehensive system for categorizing carbon nanotubes and their modifications in terms of nano sheets, nanotubes, microscopic and atomic modifications. Lastly, it introduces a number of common software packages for geometry generation and several commercial finite element programs.

  • av Tomasz Sadowski
    582,-

This short book describes the basic technological aspects involved in the creation of purely clinch and clinch-adhesive joints made of different types of adherent materials and employing different joining technologies.

  • av Dariusz Skibicki
    766,-

This book gives an overview on the fatigue of materials under non-proportional loads. It presents the rich spectrum of phenomena and treats various computational models to mathematically describe the non-proportional fatigue of materials.

  • - Materials and Numerical Modelling
    av Sergio M. O. Tavares
    697,-

This book provides a state-of-the-art review of the fail-safe and damage tolerance approaches, allowing weight savings and increasing aircraft reliability and structural integrity. The application of the damage tolerance approach requires extensive know-how of the fatigue and fracture properties, corrosion strength, potential failure modes and non-destructive inspection techniques, particularly minimum detectable defect and inspection intervals. In parallel, engineering practice involving damage tolerance requires numerical techniques for stress analysis of cracked structures. These evolved from basic mode I evaluations using rough finite element approaches, to current 3D modeling based on energetic approaches as the VCCT, X-FEM or meshless techniques. This book provides a concise introduction to this subject.

  • - An Experimental Research and Numerical Modeling
    av Tomasz Sadowski
    647,-

This book discusses complex loadings of turbine blades and protective layer Thermal Barrier Coating (TBC), under real working airplane jet conditions. In particular, two types of blades are analyzed: stationary and rotating, which are widely applied in turbine engines produced by airplane factories.

  • av Mohammed Rafiq Abdul Kadir & Muhammad Ikman Ishak
    654,-

This book shows computational finite element simulations to analyse the strength of implant anchorage for intrasinus and extramaxillary approaches under various occlusal loading locations and directions.

  • av Severino P. C. Marques
    784,-

This text is a guide how to solve problems in which viscoelasticity is present using existing commercial computational codes. The second part shows the most important Computational techniques: Finite elements formulation, Boundary elements formulation, and presents the solutions of Viscoelastic problems with Abaqus.

  • av Fakhrizal Azmy Nasruddin
