Syria Travel Guide. Discovery. Numerous magnificent monuments of the antique period, churches and monasteries, architectural complexes and museums remain the main attraction point for tourists in Syria. In the city of Aleppo it will be very interesting to visit an ancient fortress that is located on the main square. The fortress was built in the beginning of the 13th century; slowly more and more new buildings appeared near the fortress and in the end of the century it was already a big city instead of a small settlement. The fortress was a very important strategic point during the war with Mongolia. It successfully countered numerous attacks and managed to keep its original look. Nowadays, in the fort one can see old mosques, tombs, palaces and houses. The ancient city of Bosra is a very important archaeological landmark. During the prehistoric era there was a large city instead of modern Bosra. According to scientists, it was founded yet during the reign of Amenhotep. During the reign of the Roman Empire the city changed its name to Nova Trajana Bostra. For many years the city was the reason for military actions as it was located on the crossing of important trading routes. Later the city became the territory of the Byzantine Empire, so now it's possible to see architectural landmarks that belong to the three great epochs. In Bosra you will find ruins of first Arabian temples, an ancient Roman theatre and Byzantine churches.

Touristic Guide to Brighton, England. Tourism. Brighton is without doubt Britain's most colourful and outrageous city. Here burlesque meets contemporary design; grotty hostels share thin walls with kinky boutique hotels; microbrewed ales share bar space with 'sex on the beach'; and stags watch drag. The city returned the UK's first Green Party MP, Valentine's Day is celebrated with unusual gusto, and according to the 2001 census, it has the UK's highest Jedi population. The highlight for the sightseeing visitor is the Royal Pavilion, a 19th-century party palace built by the Prince Regent, who kicked off Brighton's love of the outlandish. The boho vibe of North Laine and South Lanes is not to be missed either. Shop for vintage clothes, flick through crates of second hand vinyl, stock up on vegan treats or duck into a pub for a pint of Harvey's Sussex Ale. Brighton has a well-earned reputation for its gay-friendly scene too, especially in Kemptown. The summer and winter pride events attract huge crowds from all across the UK. There's a strong cultural streak here too, with heavyweight acts always passing through the ace Brighton Centre and cutting edge bands and DJs playing at venues such as Komedia. The Great Escape music festival sees the city taken over by independent artists for a weekend in May, turning Brighton into the hippest place in the UK. If all that partying gets too much, remember the rolling South Downs National Park is just a short drive or train ride away. And if you don't fancy a dip in the sea, the soon-to-be-reopened art deco Saltdean Lido will be a great way to soak your bones on a hot day.

Italy Travel. Tourism Information. Italy Travel Guide. Nearly every city in Italy is a large historic center with numerous places of interest. Rome, Milano, Venice and Florence remain major tourist destinations, and all of them are totally worth visiting. Rome is one of the oldest cities in the world. Almost every building in this city has historic or architectural value. The magnificent Coliseum was built almost 2 thousand years ago. Before that, the site of the Coliseum was the location of Nero's Palace and a big artificial lake. The building of the Coliseum was joyful for inhabitants of Rome because it was much more pleasant to see a beautiful forum rather than a tyrant's palace. Circus Maximus is another large and unusual landmark. According to some experts, Circus could provide seats for 200 thousand visitors. The venue was used to host competitions of carts and other important public events. Mons Palatinus is an interesting place from the historic point of view. According to scientists, homes of first settlers of Rome were located there. Later, noble Romans built their houses on Mons Palatinus. There were many temples in that area and many important celebrations took place there. Milan is a beautiful city with many wonderful landmarks like Duomo Cathedral that is considered one of most beautiful churches in the city. Its building started in the end of the 14th century and lasted till 1965. The mural painting "The Last Supper" by Leonardo da Vinci is the main decoration of the shrine. Other interesting landmarks are La Scala Theatre, The Pinacoteca di Brera, Francesco Emmanuelle Gallery and Castello Sforzesco. Grand Canal has become the signature landmark of Venice. All most beautiful palaces and castles are located along the canal. Palazzo Ducale is often called the most beautiful castle in Venice. This is a wonderful historic building, which halls have retained their original look of past centuries.
