Parklife is an independent publication edited by Continente Editions about outdoor space, curated by Paola Ristoldo and Alessandro Furchino Capria. The magazine, launched in April 2023 in London and with annual release, addresses stories of ordinary and uncommon places by developing visual and literary narratives. Driven by a primordial need to create, occupy and control a territory, human being becomes inhabitant of a place defined and circumscribed by and for himself. Why does humanity feel the need to design these spaces? How are they experienced?Through an authorial approach and with unpublished projects, thirteen artists and a confrontation between an architect and a designer explore the concept of the park understood as a place of daily life. All these visions make it possible to conceive green space and its inhabitants as an essential and united part of the city context. Parklife is a refuge from the urban sprawl. Trance has been the flagship for electronic music across the globe during the nineties and early zeroes. The sound's trademark optimistic and euphoric aspects has brought some of the most compelling musical pieces of its time, and undoubtedly had a significant influence on future electronic music to come. Yet, its historical significance has been highly overlooked. Hypnotised is the first encyclopedia to cover the global trance movement during its most prolific years. The 332-page book spans a near-complete discography of supposedly essential albums, labels and releases, alongside exclusive photos and in-depth interviews with influential artists and label owners.
Sceneries change depending on what you feel in the moment. I'm trying to capture sceneries and views through such filters of emotion. These photos are different to those you would take if you were to leave your house with the intent of taking photographs. Sometimes, I become very sensitive to smell. Not smells that you sense with your nose but smells that you sense with your feelings. In those moments, I am drawn towards the smell of the city, the smell of people, the smell of life. Sometimes I traverse towns I don't know following only my sense of smell. You may not have a particular place to go to, but if you get over yourself and leave the house, you'll find yourself finding things you never imagined. When my feelings align with the scenery unfolding in front of me and I happen to have a camera on me, I'll press the shutter button. (I almost always have a camera on me. )Does this filter of feelings really exist? Does it become visible in photographs? Or is it just my imagination? In the end, finding the answers to self-doubts like that becomes another motivation for me to keep taking photos. -from the artist's statement (translation by shashasha)
This volume is a graphically improved re-edition and re-invention of a book that first appeared in 1999. The classic Corio portraits have been swapped in a few places, but the line-up of brilliance they represent is unchanged, as is the text itself, apart from a little polish here and there. All quotes are taken from either the lifetime of original interviews I have conducted as a music journalist, first published in the mid-1970s British rock press, or from the many months of interviews I conducted specifically for The Black Chord, unless otherwise noted. My choice of additional subjects was dictated by David''s magnificent portrait gallery. I wanted to, if not directly quote, at least contextualize every artist. In the intervening decades, many have left us. Some shine even more brightly. Regarding others whose luster has been tarnished by scandal, it may be a poignant surprise to recall how they were viewed before the sad, sordid truth came out. Like my dear friend and colleague Dav

Beyond Reasonrelates Wagner's works to the philosophical and cultural ideas of his time, centering on the four music dramas he created in the second half of his career:Der Ring des Nibelungen,Tristan und Isolde,Die Meistersinger von Nurnberg, andParsifal. Karol Berger seeks to penetrate the ';secret' of large-scale form in Wagner's music dramas and to answer those critics, most prominently Nietzsche, who condemned Wagner for his putative inability to weld small expressive gestures into larger wholes. Organized by individual opera, this is essential reading for both musicologists and Wagner experts.
