An ode to the medium of black-and-white street photography and a record of the enormity of life’s understated moments.Synchronicity showcases Fabrice Strippoli’s unique eye for capturing the remarkable in life’s most unremarkable moments. Strippoli’s lens work and his expertly crafted darkroom techniques transform these moments—from the seemingly mundane to the downright ordinary—into evocatively nostalgic pieces that invite comparison to mid-century masters of street photography like Robert Frank, Walker Evans, and Garry Winogrand. Combined with words by Juno winner Ron Sexsmith and New York Times bestselling author Justin Kingsley, Synchronicity is an ode to the medium of black-and-white street photography and a record of the enormity of life’s understated moments.
Swazi craft meets digital photography in Kyle Meyer's astounding woven photos of a silenced LGBTQ communityKyle Meyer (born 1985) has worked between eSwatini (formerly Swaziland) and New York City since 2009, creating richly tactile artworks as conceptually complex as they are visually lush. In this debut monograph, Meyer's portraits from his Interwoven series fuse digital photography with traditional Swazi crafts, giving voice to silenced members of the LGBTQ community. Tension between the necessity of the individuals to hide their queerness for basic survival and their desire to express themselves openly inform both the subject and the means of fabricating Meyer's unique works. Each piece from the Interwoven series is labor-intensive, taking days or sometimes weeks to complete. Meyer often photographs his subjects wearing a traditional headwrap made from a vibrantly colored textile. He then produces a print of the portrait and shreds it, together with the fabric from the headwrap, weaving the strips into patterned three-dimensional works. The final portrait presents each person's individuality while using the fabric as a screen to protect their identity. Included in each copy of this book is a unique piece of fabric torn from the remnants of the Interwoven project, intended to serve as a bookmark.

Overpass is about what it means to move through the landscape. Walking along a vast network of centuries-old footpaths through the English countryside, artist Sam Contis focuses on stiles, the simple structures that offer a means of passage over walls and fences and allow public access through privately owned land. In her immersive sequences of black-and-white photographs, they become repeating sculptural forms in the landscape, invitations to free movement on one hand and a reminder of the history of enclosure on the other. Made from wood and stone, each unique, they appear as markers pointing the way forward, or decaying and half-hidden by the undergrowth. An essay by writer Daisy Hildyard contextualizes this body of work within histories of the British landscape and contemporary ecological discourses. In an age of rising nationalism and a renewed insistence on borders, Overpass invites us to reflect on how we cross boundaries, who owns space, and the ways we have shaped the natural environment and how we might shape it in the future.
In a career spanning nearly 75 years, Louise Bourgeois created a vast body of work that enriched the formal language of modern art while it expressed her intense inner struggles with unprecedented candor and unpredictable invention. Her solo 1982 retrospective at The Museum of Modern Art launched an extraordinarily productive late career, making her a much-honored and vivid presence on the international art scene until her death in 2010 at the age of 98. Trained as a painter and printmaker, Bourgeois embraced sculpture as her primary medium and experimented with a range of materials over the years, including marble, plaster, bronze, wood, and latex. Bourgeois contributed significantly to Surrealism, Postminimalist, and installation art, but her work always remained fiercely independent of style or movement. With more than 1000 illustrations, Intimate Geometries: The Art and Life of Louise Bourgeois comprehensively surveys her immense oeuvre in unmatched depth. Writing from a uniquely intimate perspective, as a close personal friend of Bourgeois, and drawing on decades of research, Robert Storr critically evaluates her achievements and reveals the complexity and passion of one of the greatest artists of the twentieth century.

The book Envoi of the Swedish photographer and filmmaker Stefan Bladh (*1976) consists of photographs that were created on numerous trips between 2002 und 2018. In his work, in which he lets himself be driven by intuition and instinct, Bladh explores the conditio humana. Recurring topics are the consciousness and the impermanence of our existence."These pictures pose questions for me and make me think about our longings, our needs, and our nature; our notion of a separate self, even though we are so closely interwoven with one another-in every atom, since the beginning of time." (Stefan Bladh)
Theresa Möller (*1988) explores the tragic entanglement and indissoluble interdependency of natural evolution and cultural development. Her work is inspired by the deep vulnerability and the sensual opulence of colors and forms of nature. The shades she uses are sweet mauves, powdery blues, fruity oranges, and sea greens. Architectures reappear occasionally through horizon lines and geometrical forms created by Nature. The artistic approach is phantasmagorical and reflects a tormented inner space, which also outlines major current contemporary concerns. Theresa Möller's book "Dis-Nature" is an invitation to discover her own Nature and her vision of contemporary painting.
The violinist Thomas Zehetmair swims in a lake with a water temperature of three degrees, the clarinetist Sabine Meyer drinks tea on her horse ranch, or the chamber music singer Brigitte Fassbaender shares a sofa with her cats: rarely has a photographer come as close to great musicians as Frank Schinski does in the photo book Neumarkt. The photos of artists form the core of the book about an outstanding chamber music hall that has now been drawing the stars of the classical music scene to the small city in the Upper Palatinate for forty years. This is reason enough to photograph aforesaid musicians as well as a selection of the people who first made the "miracle of Neumarkt" possible: from the founder to subscribers to in-house technicians. The series of photos are supplemented with essays by renowned authors like Sir András Schiff, Prof. Peter Gülke, and Dariusz Szymanski.
A unique meeting of two transformative talents in American photography, Walker Evans (Let Us Now Praise Famous Men) and Michael Lesy (Wisconsin Death Trip), with a selection of Evans's little-seen Polaroid portraits and last works
The first comprehensive book in more than twenty years of the artist’s haunting and textural photographic work, published to accompany a major retrospective at the Addison Gallery of American Art.A definitive monograph to accompany the first museum survey of the renowned photographer and conceptual artist Rosamond Purcell (b. 1942), known for her strangely beautiful, often unsettling photographs of objects from the natural and man-made world. With more than 150 illustrations, the book reflects the breadth of the artist’s career from the late 1960s to the present day, and includes photographs, assemblages, collages, and installations that serve to illuminate and explore the shifting boundaries between art and science. With thoughtful and insightful texts from an eclectic list of critical voices—including the acclaimed documentary filmmaker Errol Morris and the writer Christoph Irmscher—and featuring an interview between Purcell and fellow contemporary artist Mark Dion, this book rejuvenates the critical approach Purcell’s work and brings to light the evolution of a remarkable career.
