In Levels of Consciousness, Angelika weaves color-saturated threads of emotion into her sumptuous digital tapestries, which explore the themes of awareness, perception, mindfulness, wakefulness, alertness, cognizance, and realization.Angelika is a masterful visual storyteller who layers photographic images, colors, and shapes in a way that defies the 2D format they're presented in. Her limitless creativity revels in the organic intersection of humanity and nature in unexpected ways - inviting me to look at the world and myself in a new light.Levels of Consciousness contains some of Angelika's most evocative work yet, and I find myself coming back time and again for the depth of emotions that overtake me when I lose myself in them. Her art is visual poetry that both rips me open and soothes my spirit.- Ticia Isom, writer and storyteller

The long-term Photographic Observation Schlieren is a much-recognized unique research project that documents urban development in Switzerland. Over a period of fifteen years, a photographic record of building activity and urbanization processes was conducted to demonstrate how these are altering the character of a typical Swiss suburban community. The chosen example was the town of Schlieren, bordering the city of Zurich to the west, whose population grew from 13,000 to 20,000 residents during the observation period of 2005-20. At Sixty-nine locations throughout Schlieren, pictures were taken under identical conditions every two years that show the changes in the spatial interplay of buildings, streets, and green spaces. Simultaneously, series of topical detailed photographs were produced that focus on individual objects and tell of the appropriation, design, and aesthetics of habitats, such as store fronts, building entrances, playgrounds, parking entrances, etc. This two-volume book brings together the results of this spectacular research. The Archive volume features the entire body of the eight images taken at each of the sixty-nine sites to visualize the deep changes Schlieren has undergone during these fifteen years. The Essays volume combines the topical image series with essays that offer in-depth examination of the study's subject, detailed analyses and interpretations, and interviews by expert authors from various disciplines. Winner of the DAM Architectural Book Award 2023.

A captivating photographic portrait of the diverse experiences of immigrants in the United States, depicting the resilience and realities of building a home in a new place. Disturbed by the increasingly hostile views of immigrants that arose in the United States during the 2016 presidential election, photographer Colin Boyd Shafer set out on a road trip to meet hundreds of families and individuals with roots abroad who now live in America. The result, after a year of travel covering fifty thousand miles, is this collection of striking photos and moving stories that form a portrait of the nation's complex and shifting relationship to immigration. Some of the participants chose to make America home; others were displaced by crises. Some were warmly welcomed and granted citizenship; others battled the immigration system for years and still live with fear and uncertainty. Their circumstances and origins vary, but all are united by a willingness to share their stories-of harrowing journeys, intense love, separated families, passionate activism-in hopes of adding nuance and depth to a vital issue that continues to polarize Americans.

"Iconic architect Addison Mizner's unfiltered first-person account of Palm Beach's formative years from 1918 until 1924, entitled Addison Mizner: A Palm Beach Memoir, is an upcoming publication by the Historical Society of Palm Beach County. Focused on the period when Mizner and sewing-machine heir Paris Singer were instrumental in shaping Palm Beach into one of the world's ultimate destinations, Mizner's insightful narrative offers an insider's perspective, conveyed by his candid views, Barbary Coast bluster, and drawing room wit. While Mizner's architectural legacy has been the subject of numerous books, this unique volume gives readers a front-row seat to Mizner's personal relationships with his family, friends, and clients, who happened to be among the nation's wealthiest patrons. Along with Mizner's detailed, matter-of-fact chronicle, the Historical Society's book includes an up-close, discerning Introduction by heiress and confidante Alice DeLamar, a Prologue and Afterword by historian and author Augustus Mayhew, an Architectural Timeline, and a History of Mizner Industries, illustrated with 100 historical photographs from the Historical Society of Palm Beach County's extensive Addison Mizner Collection"--
