Sophio Medoidze's (b. Tbilisi, then USSR, 1978; lives and works in London) practice encompasses film, photography, writing, and sculpture and explores the poetic potential of uncertainty. Her work has been shown at Tate Modern, the Fondation Vincent van Gogh Arles, the Serpentine Gallery, the Close Up Film Centre, Kunstmuseum Luzern, and the Whitechapel Gallery, amongst others. For a time she worked anonymously as part of the Clara Emigrand collective, disseminating her work outside the gallery context. Medoidze explores the relationship between rural and urban, languages and translations, as well as gender politics and dynamics. Her works often emerge from writing and unfold as installations incorporating moving image, sculpture, and text. The publication Bastard Sun brings together a collection of photographs taken after the civil unrest in Georgia in the 1990s with short texts written over the subsequent visits to Georgia, together with a collection of twelve short stories. Medoidze's writing provides nuanced and at times humorous reflections on personal and political change. Bastard Sun is co-published with KONA BOOKS, a Tbilisi-based publishing house that focuses on contemporary visual and interdisciplinary projects.

"An artist does not produce the visible, he renders things visible. He reveals what we cannot see. He opens our eyes blinded by habit. He advances into the very heart of creation. He grasps life's hidden forces and reveals them on canvas" - Govind Madhav Solegaonkar.Beyond the Canvas is a narrative account of the life story of the master artist, Govind Solegaonkar, as seen through the eyes of his youngest granddaughter, Renuka. Govind Solegaonkar (1912-1986) was an artist who made a significant contribution to Indian art. An alumnus of the JJ School of Art and later the president of the Indian Art Society, Solegaonkar's life was the epitome of burning passion and complete dedication to art. Renuka, a doctor and an artist herself, was two years old when Govind Solegaonkar passed away. Having known her grandfather only through his paintings, Renuka wanted to understand him and his life better. Feeling stuck in her artistic journey, she was looking for answers to questions about the meaning of art, artistry and the pursuit of one's passion. What did it mean to be an artist? What does it take to follow one's heart? Through Solegaonkar's life story, his paintings and his writings, Renuka goes on an explorative journey to understand the artist behind the art.

The B-24 Liberator served as the workhorse of the US armed forces and was used in every theater of war. Under the command of Colonel Halverson, a US task force known as HALPRO was sent to attack Japan, but was diverted en route and instead became embroiled in the Mediterranean theater, carrying out bombing raids to arrest the progress of Axis forces.Images of the early days of the RAF, HALPRO and the US's 9th and 12th Air Forces illustrate the difficult sandy and dusty conditions in the North African desert, as well as the less sophisticated early model B-24s. The 15th Air Force, operating from Southern Italy, lived in tents through the particularly cold winter of 1944-45, and the sight of the snowy Alps that they crossed daily must have made crews wonder just how they would fare if their aircraft was brought down there. Crossing the Adriatic would have brought different challenges: the B-24 was not best regarded as a ditching platform, and so the Isle of Vis off Croatia beckoned to crews dealing with fuel shortages and battle damage once they left the Croatian coast and were bound for Italy. Unit photographers captured dramatic scenes as bombers were struck with flak and control was lost and many are included in this illustrated volume. With more than 150 images, this book presents a graphic account of the B-24 Liberator, its missions and crews against the backdrop of the Mediterranean theater of war.

The early and innovative fashion photography of the renowned Spanish artistFashion photography occupies an unknown place, although of great importance, in the career of Spanish artist Antoni Miralda. After settling in Paris, Miralda collaborated regularly with the legendary ELLE magazine between 1964 and 1971, often working on contemporary seasonal collections linked to the art world. Among the many spreads produced by Miralda, one stands out for the notoriety of the model who stars in it: the iconic Twiggy. This stunning new volume highlights how influential this early body of work was, both to his own career as well as in the world of fashion photography. While most images at the time featured models in studios, Miralda took these models out into the street: uncodified and unpredictable spaces that required the photographer and his team to make quick yet complex design choices. Faced with the Grand Paris of Haussmann or the Paris of museums and imposing cathedrals, Miralda prefers the blind points of historicist urbanism; popular, unclichéd places with a great human density. No-Flash Fashion, with its contemporary design and its references to fashion magazines and archives, presents for the first time a detailed view of the undiscovered work of one of the most versatile and iconic artists of the 20th century.Antoni Miralda (born 1942) is best known for his "food sculptures" and public performances centered on the ritual of eating. He designed the Food Pavilion at Expo 2000 in Hanover, Germany. In 2018 he won the Velázquez Prize for Plastic Arts, awarded by the Spanish Ministry of Education and Culture.
