Trains 'n' Trees author Franklin David Frisch is retired and still spends time railfanning, however the number of days spent totally dedicated to photography is decreasing. The newer generic diesel engines are not as photogenic as the older first- and second-generation models. The consolidation and shrinking of the number of railroads and amount of trackage greatly reduced the paint scheme variations. Fewer trains moving and the proliferation of grafitti also lower the number of opportunities. Getting older and not quite as active and exploratory as when I was younger, the author now spends more time in the Perfectional Photography studio making matted and framed prints from his favorite photographs, writing books and attending more art shows.Frisch spent eight years in electronics in the USAF and has degrees in Engineering and Business. He also always had an affinity for doing what he undertakes to perfection. As the name of his photo business indicates, he is a perfectionist. He attempts to get the "perfect" shot every time he shoots. "I do not bat 1.000 but I get consistent high-quality, nearly perfect photographs in a majority of my images." This goal oriented engineering mentality along with his desire to do things well and his interest in railroad photography evolved into the opening of a photography studio in 2005. Frisch's photographs have been published in books, magazines and calendars and are on display in several businesses in northeast Indiana.

Doors Open Ontario is a province-wide heritage tourism program that gives the public free access to explore fascinating heritage properties across Ontario. It showcases the buildings, natural spaces, infrastructure and cultural landscapes that shape and define our communities. Doors Open Ontario began in 2002 to connect people to places by facilitating public access to built and natural heritage sites that normally restrict regular access to the public. In 2023, the province-wide theme will be Food - exploring Ontario's historical traditions of food production as well as the spaces that shape and define our culinary traditions today. We visited Sleeman Breweries at 551 Clair Road West and learned about the beginnings of Sleeman's, prohibition and the punishment for breaking the rules, and re=opening after fifty years. The Sovereign, 66 Macdonnell Street, also known as the Petrie-Kelly Building, is a visual anchor for the eye in the center of downtown Guelph. It was completed in 1882, and was built on the old site of the old Great Western Hotel and was jointly financed by W.H. Cutten, barrister and A. B. Petrie, pharmacist. The Petrie Building, 15 Wyndham Street, has been a downtown Guelph icon since opening in 1882. It is on the east side of the street between Cork and Macdonell Streets. This four-story stone and timber building is reminiscent of the Second Empire style. The Dominion Building, 138 Wyndham Street North, is Guelph's only example of Modern Classicism. This building retains original exterior decorative details. It housed the post office and other federal departments. When the post office closed in 2005, the art deco interior was restored, along with the original bronze doors, stained-glass windows and plaster work. Today, it is home to Guelph's social services division as well as apartments. Spring Mill Distillery, 43 Arthur Street South - the single-story section was the original building of Allan's Mill, constructed in 1835 with locally quarried limestone. Whiskey, vodka and gin are being distilled. The Canadian Pacific Caboose 436994 and Locomotive 6167 are in John Galt Park, 35 Woolwich Street. Locomotive 6167, built in 1940, was used as a passenger and freight train. Guelph Waterworks, 29 Waterworks Place - Until 1878, Guelph's needs for water were satisfied by private wells, cisterns and the Speed River. Originally only intended for fire protection, the excavation of the pumping station changed the purpose of the waterworks when a spring was struck yielding a large supply of uncontaminated water which the Waterworks Commission believed could be used for domestic purposes.Details in the window openings, the Matthew Bell-carved stonework, and curved brackets supporting the gable roof were all restored in 2020. Guelph won an award in the Historical Restoration/Preservation category from the Ontario Public Works Association (OPWA) in 2021.

Photo: to do with light. Phyto: plants and flowers. Proto: the first, the original. Nitro: it blows up.From Troy to Hiroshima, Crimea to the nuclear Nevada desert, we make our tracks over the war-scratched globe, and when we reach a ruin or a destination we read the markings, record them using various forms of photography. Later-or much, much later-someone else in turn will try to understand our silvery traces. These are the threads that Melissa McCarthy follows, unpicks, weaves again into a nexus of light and time: the mirrored silver cells of a shark's eyeball, sunlight glinting off the foam and sea wrack of the Aegean on flower with corpses, the silver salts of photographic paper, silver grave-treasures at Ur.Like an archaeologist in her own strange literary landscape, McCarthy cuts through layers of history and technology to realign the dead and their images. She examines both what can be photographed and what remains always just beyond the frame, and photography itself. It's a practice involving chemicals and the action of light. But it's also an organising principle for literature and beyond: there are marks made-by us, on us-that we can't yet fully see or understand, though they push on through to the surface, always re-blooming.

"Enter the groundbreaking and glorious world of queer dance. Two women hold each other tight as they dance the two-step. A fierce-eyed man in a long red dress performs flamenco. A dancer improvises in a blooming garden, blending diverse influences into a style all their own. This book showcases twelve individual artists and companies who are reclaiming traditional genres and building inclusive dance communities. Whether professionals or amateurs, ballerinas or experimental performers, pole dancers or line dancers, these artists embody the queer experience in unique ways. Yael Malka's intimate and visceral photography sets the scene with dramatically lit performance shots, tender portraits of artists rehearsing in their studios, and close-ups of dazzling makeup and costumes. Evocative essays by Coco Romack, drawn from interviews with the dancers, offer in-depth looks into their creative processes and artistic visions. This beautiful book documents the rise of a new generation of artists and will inspire dance lovers, queer creators, and anyone who delights in the power of the human body in motion"--

    av S M Bikanu
    111

I was looking for a boudoir photographer, but I got more than I asked for. In "My Boudoir Experience," embark on a mesmerizing tale of unexpected passion, self-discovery, and the transformative power of love. Nivedita, a bride-to-be on the brink of matrimony, finds herself drawn into a whirlwind of emotions when she contacts renowned boudoir photographer, Sahil, for a bridal photoshoot. Little does she know that this fateful decision will unravel a chain of events that will forever alter the course of her life. As the camera captures Nivedita's beauty, vulnerability, and unspoken desires, a palpable connection ignites between her and Sahil. With each click of the shutter, the invisible walls surrounding their hearts crumble, allowing a forbidden intimacy to flourish. Bound by their shared passion and an unyielding pull toward one another, they find solace and liberation in the depths of their desires. As Nivedita navigates the final week leading up to her wedding, she becomes entangled in a tempest of emotions-a maelstrom of devotion, guilt, and the stirring realization that her heart may belong to another. The lines between duty, tradition, and personal fulfillment blur, and she is faced with a profound choice that could either shatter or redefine her future. In the midst of this emotional turbulence, "My Boudoir Experience" explores themes of self-discovery, societal expectations, and the courage to follow one's heart. Nivedita's journey unfolds with sensuality and raw vulnerability, as she grapples with her own desires while grappling with the consequences of her actions. Will Nivedita choose the path paved by convention and duty, honoring the commitment she made to her fiancé? Or will she embrace the intoxicating allure of newfound love, risking everything she holds dear for a chance at true happiness? In this captivating story, "My Boudoir Experience" takes readers on an exploration of love's complexity, unveiling the depths of passion, the power of personal choice, and the indomitable nature of the human spirit. With its evocative prose, rich character development, and an exquisite blend of sensuality and emotional resonance, this tale invites readers to confront their own desires, question societal norms, and ultimately, believe in the transformative power of love. ***

Port Dalhousie is actually a suburb of St. Catharines. This quaint little town is renowned for its 2 lighthouses, 2 piers, lots of sailboats...and of course, craft shops.Port Dalhousie hosts the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta inviting rowers from all over the world. This event has been happening for almost 100 years! The Port is a great place to picnic, to watch sailboats, bicycle, take long walks along the pier and photograph the two lighthouses there. There's also a great beach on the north side and a carousel for families with kids. The carousel might be on hold for a while because the town is undergoing renovations. It would be a shame to lose the carousel which has entertained families since 1921. The piers themselves are under construction. But don't worry; there are still lots to see while the town is getting a new facelift.John Hartig hopes you enjoy this Photobook of Port Dalhousie, a labour of love which shows some of the choice photos of the Port that John has gathered over the past two decades.

Spanning the history of photography from the 1840s to the present day, this beautifully illustrated book showcases 100 photographs chosen from the many thousands held in the National Trust's collections. Spanning the history of photography from the 1840s to the present day, this beautifully illustrated book showcases 100 photographs chosen from the many thousands held in collections at National Trust properties across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Alongside works by well-known photographers such as William Henry Fox Talbot, Julia Margaret Cameron, Camille Silvy, Edward Chambré Hardman, Dorothy Wilding, Angus McBean and Jane Bown are remarkable images captured by less familiar practitioners. Many of these photographs have only recently been discovered and are reproduced here for the first time. Professional studio portraits, landscapes and images of war sit alongside family groups, domestic scenes and travel photographs by talented amateurs whose images provide glimpses into the way we have viewed and recorded the world over the last two centuries. Through these pages, glassplate negatives give way to celluloid film; monochrome makes room for colour; and while still inspiring many, early cumbersome processes evolve into modern, portable formats that would bring photographic creativity within easier reach of everyone. The book concludes with a useful illustrated glossary of photographic terms and a gazetteer of National Trust properties with significant photographic collections.
