Praying for my children daily is as easy as a Sunday morning. When my children, Elliott, II and Elese were little, I was blessed to take them to work with me. Every morning we would stand in my office and pray. I would pray for their days and attitudes (especially that little girl people Elese. She was something fierce). It got so good to them that Elliott would run to the office and ready himself to pray before I made it there. He would gather his little self and lead that thing ya'll! This was our normal. As they grew older and into middle and high school, I began traveling across the country for work. As I began traveling, daily prayer became more and more important. I had to stay connected to my children. I realized that not only did I have to keep my A but I was responsible for equipping my children, with the tools they need to keep their A. So, the journey of this book began! The author, Chana R. Thompson-Brooks helps young people apply practical application to understanding and developing a prayer life. Keeping Your A: Motivating Our Children to Higher Altitudes is a wonderful inspirational book posed to lift the spirits of young people and encourage them each day. The funny yet real inspirations will leave you laughing and prayed up. Chana R. Thompson-Brooks is a native of Buffalo, NY. Chana has earned AAS, BS, and MS degrees in Early Childhood Education. Are your tired of being sick and tired of our young Black men and women being beat down, killed and made to feel they do not have a place or a right in this earth. We are going to have to look at the causes and the root cause of these situations. It is one thing the Black community as a whole has abandoned...and that is PRAYER. We were delivered from slavery by the prayers of our ancestors. Their songs were prayers sent from one plantation to the other to warn of pending danger or directions to a pickup site. We have looked to the government, the school systems and even the justice system to correct the problem of racism. This book provides help in understanding who the culprit really is and how we must look back into ourselves for the real answer to this dilemma. As parents, we must take responsibility for the children we have birthed in this earth as well as the responsibility for their future health and peace. Their lives are depending on it. You will: Learn to recognize how to find the purpose for your child How to hear the voice of God for your child How to pray effective prayers that will loose your child to be all God called he/she to be. Prayer and the word of God is the most powerful weapon against the enemy that haunts our children on a daily basis. We have tried everything else for centuries. Lets go back to our roots and our Creator and see the salvation of the Lord. We owe it to our seed. Willie Mae Patterson is a minister at the New Greater Love Church in Paducah KY.
