Woman, particularly mothers, are in the greatest battle ever. Your life shifts repeatedly from servant to warrior. I know God has never lost a battle. With Him, you won't either. Mothers can overcome anything that is thrown at them. That's how God set it up from the beginning to the end. Skillet Truth is about sixty years of family dysfunction, a persistent pattern of spousal abuse, fighting a racist system, single motherhood issues, a third marriage attempt, a disabling accident, and Covid-19, just to name a few of my tussles. I know I would not have made it through without God's intervention. I pray these words will be a blessing and help your wounds from the past and present heal as you are struggling through these last dark days. Ruth Etta Coleman MPA MSW BAS

"Any moms who want more ease, confidence, and joy in their lives should definitely read this book!" --Kim West, MSW, "The Sleep Lady" Unlock your ability to unfluster your parenting by identifying your anxiety style so you can turn frustration to flourishing Many moms live under the weight of seemingly constant fear. They worry about everything from their kids' safety and emotional health to that weird little rash on their ankle. They are the referees, social planners, medics, financial consultants, cooks, travel agents, educational specialists, family therapists, and housekeepers. It's utterly exhausting. Unfortunately, it's not just exhausting, it leaves them flustered. Most of us don't have access to the support or resources we need to manage being flustered in a healthier way. Women end up with symptoms ranging from "mom guilt" and "mommy brain" to depression, anxiety, panic attacks, substance abuse, and eating disorders. Moms are more flustered now than ever before. Even women who have no previous experience with anxiety or depression find themselves changed as a result of the physiological shifts, emotional isolation, hormonal imbalances, and unrealistic expectations that accompany motherhood. The Unflustered Mom offers a healthy alternative for dealing with mom-fears. Moms can identify their anxiety, better understand their triggers, their clues, their contributing factors, and their false beliefs. Then they'll learn practical tools that can help to dismantle the fears no longer serving them--turning their fluster into flourish. Discover Your StyleLoverFighterVisionaryExecutiveDynamo

Legacy books in colonial America were instruments for the transmission of cultural values between generations: the dying mother (usually) instructing and advising children on the path to salvation and heavenly reunions. They were a popular and influential form of women's discourse that distilled the ideologies of the religious establishment into practical and emotional lessons for lay persons, especially the young. This collection draws together legacy texts written by colonial American women and girls: five mother's legacy books and two legacies by children, organized here chronologically. These legacies were written in anticipation of dying, making awareness of death central to the texts. All are highly personal, revealing the thought processes and emotive patterns of their authors, and all are meant for the comfort and instruction of the loved ones these dying women and girls were leaving behind. Published between 1664 and 1792, these texts provide insight into early New England culture through to the first years of the republic. Included are:Anne Bradstreet, To My Dear Children (1664)Susanna Bell, The Legacy of a Dying Mother to Her Mourning Children (1673)Sarah Goodhue, The Copy of a Valedictory and Monitory Writing (1681)Grace Smith, The Dying Mother's Legacy (1712)Sarah Demick, Memoirs of the Life of Mrs. Sarah Demick (1792)Hannah Hill, A Legacy for Children (1714)Jane Sumner, Warning to Little Children (1792)Benjamin Colman, A Devout Contemplation on ... the Early Death of Pious & Lovely Children (1714)A Late Letter from a Solicitous Mother To Her Only Son (1746)Memoirs of Eliza Thornton (1821)

A hilarious, vulnerable, and unapologetic approach to happiness, insecurity, courage, growth-and just being a human on planet earth. When was the last time you were happy? And I mean really happy. Kid on a rollercoaster happy. The kind of happiness that spreads through your whole body and explodes with pure unadulterated joy?Chances are, it's been a while. Chances are, most the days of your life are mostly the same. We grow up, we get jobs, maybe we get married and have kids, and somewhere along the line we think we're finished. We think we've become the people we're going to be.But what if I told you that you never stop changing? That in five years or two years or two weeks, you can become a whole new version of you? That could you move to Paris or write that book you're always talking about . . . that rather than just coasting through life, you could remember what makes it worth living . . . that you could find the thing that brings you that rollercoaster ride of joy . . . and you could do it every single day?Well, you can. And it's easy. There's just a whole bunch of bullshit getting in the way. This is a guide to getting rid of that bullshit. It's a guide to coming to terms with how you got to where you are and writing a new future for who you want to be. It's a roadmap to doing the things you've always wanted to do. And the best part is, it's never too late.

A poignant, “raw[,] and tender” (The New York Times Book Review) memoir told in essays and graphic shorts about what life looks like twenty years after recovery from addiction—and how to live with the past as a parent, writer, and sober person—from a regular opener for David Sedaris. In the opening of this “unexpectedly uplifting...masterfully crafted memoir” (Shelf Awareness, starred review) Cindy, twenty years into recovery after a heroin addiction, grapples with how to tell her nine-year-old son about her past. She wants him to learn this history from her, not anyone else; but she worries about the effect this truth may have on him. Told in essays and graphic narrative shorts, Mother Noise is a stunning memoir that delves deep into our responsibilities as parents while celebrating the moments of grace and generosity that mark a true friendship—in this case, her benefactor and champion through the years, David Sedaris. This is a powerful memoir about addiction, motherhood, and Cindy’s ongoing effort to reconcile the two. Are we required to share with our children the painful details of our past, or do we owe them protection from the harsh truth of who we were before? With dark humor and brutal, clear-eyed honesty, Mother Noise is “a full-throated anthem of hope, [that] lends light to a dark issue” (Publishers Weekly, starred review).
