North American Aviation's X-15 rocket plane flew at Mach 6.72 and at altitudes above 67 miles -- at the threshold of space. The men who piloted this amazing plane became the USAF's first astronauts. Powered by an XLR-99 engine capable of producing 70,000 pounds of thrust at peak altitude, the X-15 pushed the flight envelope for manned aircraft past the post office. Notably, both Apolloastronaut Neil Armstrong and Space Shuttle commander Joe Engle piloted theX-15. Originally published by North American for the USAF and later NASA, this Flight Operating Handbook represents a 1963 update of the original version first printed in 1961. Just recently declassified, it provides a revealing look into one of history's great planes. Also included in this edition is a rare X-15 rescue manual made for the plane's ground crew. Please note: due to the archival nature of some portions of the original documents, image and text quality may vary. Care has been taken to preserve the integrity of the text.

One of the few aircraft to fly in three wars - WWII, Korea and Vietnam - the Douglas A-26 / B-26 Invader gained fame as a light bomber. Designed by engineer Ed Heinemann, the XA-26 prototype first flew in 1942 and flew combat missions beginning in June of 1944. Two versions were produced: a heavily-armed solid nose "B" model and a glass nose "C" model for precision highaltitude bombing. More than 2400 were built, serving with distinction in both the Pacific and European Theaters. Redesignated the B-26 (not to be confused with the B-26 Marauder), Invaders saw combat in Korea and are credited with destroying over 38,000 vehicles and over 4000 locomotives and railway cars. The French flew the aircraft in Indochina, and the USAF and CIA used it during the Vietnam conflict. B-26's also flew in the ill-fated Bay of Pigs Invasion in 1961. Originally printed by the USAAF, this A-26 pilot's manual is chock full of information about one of history's great planes. This affordable facsimile has been reformatted. Care has been taken to preserve the integrity of the text.

Originally published under the title The Book of the BSA Twins by W. C. Haycraft this book is one of The Motorcyclist's Library series published in the USA by Floyd Clymer by arrangement with the original publishers Pitman Ltd. of London, England. It includes complete technical data, service and maintenance information and detailed instructions for the repair and overhaul of the major mechanical and electrical components for all models of BSA pre-unit twin cylinder motorcycles from 1948 through 1962. There is adequate detailed text and diagrams to assist in major refurbishing such as an engine rebuild or even a complete renovation. This is a - must have - reference for any BSA enthusiast and would certainly assist in helping any potential purchaser better understand the inner workings prior purchasing of one of these classic motorcycles. Applicable to all 500cc and 650cc variations of the A7 and A10 pre-unit OHV twins this publication has been out-of-print and unavailable for many years and is becoming increasingly more difficult to find on the secondary market and we are pleased to be able to offer this reproduction as a service to all BSA enthusiasts worldwide.

The application of the mandatory rules contained in Chapter XI-2 of the SOLAS Convention, known as the ISPS Code (adopted on the 12th of December 2002, in force since the 1st of July 2004), as well as of the Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council (adopted on 31st of March 2004, in force since the 20th of May of the same year), towards the protection of the marine environment, constitutes a difficult challenge for those responsible for security. The main concern is the protection of the ship-port interface, and all procedures should be focused on creating a tight barrier to all past, present and future threats. This study offers a level of specialised knowledge on those subjects included in the security area, both regarding detection procedure methodologies for risks related to criminal human participation (identification of clues, signs, actions, behavioural patterns, responses to certain control stimuli, etc.) and from the ship standpoint as an independent, autonomous unit to control her integral safety. Contents are addressed taking into account the three main blocks that play a role in security: the ship, her types, structural design and transits; the port as a filter for the threats intending to reach the ship; and the individuals involved in both, besides the criminal elements causing the crisis.

The largest piston-powered airplane ever mass-produced, Convair's B-36 "Peacemaker" was also the world's first thermonuclear bomber. The genesis of this behemoth can be traced to WWII, when U.S. planners determined that if the British were defeated, a very-long-range bomber would be needed to battle the Nazis. The prototype B-36 flew in 1946 and was quickly upgraded as the need for a bomber with a large lifting capacity - the early fission and later hydrogen bombs were both large and heavy - became paramount. Yet, when it entered active service in 1949, the "aluminum overcast" was already considered obsolete due to its four jet, six Wasp radial engine power-plant configuration. Nevertheless, nearly 400 B-36s were built and flew as strategic deterrents before the plane was retired in 1959. Originally printed by the U.S. Air Force, this Flight Operating Handbook is an authentic reprint of an original. Classified "Restricted", the manual was declassified and is here reprinted in book form. This affordable facsimile has been slightly reformatted. Some color images appear in black and white. Care has been taken to preserve the integrity of the text.
