294 pages, 130 black & white illustrations, size 5.5 x 8.5 inches. In 1963, Temple Press UK published a revised and expanded 4th UK edition of 'Tuning for Speed' and, in 1965, they published a reprint of that 1963 edition. Both the 1963 and the 1965 publications are identical in content and contain 294 pages, a significant increase from the previous 208 page 1960 printing. With a total of 294 pages, the revised and expanded 4th UK edition is the most comprehensive of all of the 'Tuning for Speed' editions ever published. Earlier editions only stretched to 208 pages and later editions shrunk to 260 pages (or less) as what was thought to be 'dated information' was deleted from the contents. This 'dated information' is considered valuable today by those enthusiasts interested in vintage motorcycle tuning and modification. Consequently, this makes the revised 4th UK publication the most complete and desirable edition. Therefore, it is our pleasure to offer this reprint of the Floyd Clymer 'Revised 4th UK Edition or Second American Edition of 'Tuning for Speed' to motorcycle enthusiasts worldwide. 'Tuning for Speed' was originally published in 1948 and continuously reprinted and updated in order to keep pace with the constantly evolving range of British motorcycles and engines. While the primary focus of this publication is on 1965 and prior British motorcycles, the theory and engineering it contains is still applicable to the current crop of high revving imports. 'Tuning for Speed' is considered by many knowledgeable motorcycle enthusiasts to be one of the best books ever written on how to improve, modify and fine tune a motorcycle engine and it is often referred to as one of the 'top 10' classic motorcycle books. The Floyd Clymer association with this publication dates back to the early 1960's when he purchased the United States Publishing rights for 'Tuning for Speed' from Temple Press in the UK and, in 1967, Clymer published the 1st American edition of that title. However, by 1967, the Clymer publication had been preceded by 8 printings of the UK edition and was incorrectly identified by Clymer as a 9th edition. In fact, the 1967 Clymer publication is actually a reprint of the less desirable 208 page 1960 UK edition. However, in 1963, the 4th UK edition was revised and expanded to 294 pages (with a second identical re-print in 1965). Therefore, this 2nd American edition of the Floyd Clymer publication of 'Tuning for Speed' includes all of that valuable 'dated information' that was deleted from the later editions and is identical in all respects to the 294 page1963/1965 revised and expanded 4th UK edition - with the exception that 7 pages of UK-based advertising to the rear of the book are not included in the Clymer publication.

The utilitarian capabilities of a Japanese mini truck are remarkable, making it one of most versatile vehicles on the planet. Small enough in stature as to fit in the bed of an F150, but amazingly resilient, conquering mountainous terrain as a top-notch four-wheel drive should. As no English writing was found to exist, I thought it about time to write one, especially as Americans have been catching the buzz on mini trucks as the rest of world has been utilizing their attributes for decades. This guide through over 160 full-color images will bring to light as to what you've been missing; a mini truck truly will be a different experience than you can compare with any other vehicle in the automotive realm. Covered here are the history, uses, configuration, comparisons, specifications, makes, parts, accessories, and conversions (electric and amphibious).A book/guide you may start out reading alone, but as I've always discovered, the excitement this book lends through its photos and exposing mini trucks' odd capabilities; you will wind up sharing it with family and friends.Sincerely, Mark RoehrigI was amazed to find that English books on Kei trucks don't exist (kei is Japanese for lightweight truck, pronounced "K"). That didn't seem right; after all, there's been over four million built and delivered to every corner of the world. So I thought it was about time that these magnificent, mighty mini trucks were put into words and photos for the English speaking and reading public. My hope is this illustrated guide will become your illustrated review as you can shelf it, and come back as needed, and it's the perfect show-and-tell for your family and friends who may have never heard of Kei trucks. What this book will do for you, after you've completed this guide, you'll be able to quote which states allow Kei trucks on public access roads, load and tow capabilities, the differences between a Acty and a Carry, or a Jumbo from a standard Hijet. You'll discover the possibilities that await you, commercial and private. You'll learn what to look for in a Kei truck and what to ask a prospective dealer; also included is what the DMV will want from you if you decide to register a Kei truck in one of the states allowing Kei trucks on the roadway.
Most training manuals skip and bounce around the truck in a manner that's both confusing and disorganized. This manual, however, systematically guides the trainee in a logical, orderly method that works and makes sense. From the start of the inspection to it's end, the driver will never have to guess about where to go or what to inspect next. This is accomplished by displaying the truck and trailer components in sections that are logically and numerically organized followed by a thorough discussion of the components following the same logical, numerical order--making the pre-trip inspection far less intimidating and less confusing. While most manuals barely mention the components to be inspected, this manual discusses the components in great detail by first explaining their purpose and then by further explaining the multitude of problems that one could possibly find while inspecting a tractor and/or trailer or straight truck. Instead of black and white sketches that lack clarity and detail, this manual includes color photographs of every component covered. Never again will you have to wonder what a component really looks like nor will you have to embarrass yourself by asking someone. Also included are a sample score sheet and an inspection checklist that can be used for practice while training. This manual also contains several bonus pictures, compliments of the world champion extreme turbine race team Miss GEICO and AMF Offshore Racing. More importantly, this manual includes all the information needed to successfully pass the pre-trip inspection exam on the first try and also serves as a good refresher to those who already have a commercial driver's license using an approach that has worked time and time again.
In "Peak 928" writer/race car builder/driver Carl Fausett has hit on three levels. If you are a fan of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, this book will share each of the challenges facing a modern racing team as they prepare, practice and compete at the "Race to the Clouds" - revered as both the Worlds toughest hill climb event and one of the worlds toughest road races. This is also the first new book about the Porsche 928 in many years - a car that still has a strong following ever since it received European "Car of the Year" honors in 1978, the first and still only sports car to ever win that title. And even if you are not a gear-head or a Pikes Peak enthusiast, this is just a darn good adventure story of an under-funded racing team pushing against all odds to the top, well told, and humorously written. Carl's conversational writing style is rich with information, but delivered in a way that will draw you in like an old friend. The 156 pages include more than 190 full-color photographs of the race car build and preparation, the practices, and the race itself from both the in-car camera and high-quality out-of-car photographs.
We have a true story that deserves to be told. It's about a small fishing boat that started out in the Mediterranean, over four thousand years ago. She helped feed a growing civilization and helped to opened up our world. Yet she received little respect. The little boat was brought to San Francisco in the hearts of Italian fishermen and boat builders during the 1849 gold rush. For one hundred and fifty years she served that fair city providing food and rescuing passengers of ships trying to enter the bay on foggy nights. She even gave famous author Jack London's sailboat a tow one windless day for which he paid six silver dollars. My hope is that this story will help keep the little boats alive in print because we owe The Little Boat so much and she has received so little recognition or appreciation.I feel this story is historical, inspirational and shows the love a person can have for a beautiful boat whose design was improved by Leonardo da Vinci. Universal studios has built a theme park in Osaka, Japan, It includes a replica of San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf. The little boat featured in this story now lives in Osaka, Japan as a fine representation of the "Little Boat That Could."
