A poetry book of reflective, serious and humorous poems from short to long inspired by a solo motorcycle touring era when vanishing points were your friends and you did not know if you would ever go back to where you came from. An era of a weathered road map folded to the universe of your current driving day at an eye's glance. When for days on end every person you spoke to or met was a total stranger and you took note of what they had to say. It was a time of living as one with your motorcycle, your gear, your maps, your journal, your wits and yourself was the daily routine of solo "John Doe" travel when a hug meant more than a simple greeting or good-bye and even though you were so very alone, you were never lonely. A time when the rising sun pointed the way. Scenic "open road" color photos of the day accompany the poems enhancing the reader's experience of the poetry as if they were there themselves. There is a photo index giving subject, location and date of each photo.

Tony Petracca, a native of Philadelphia, is a Catholic priest active in Western Pennsylvania. Since his parents and siblings all moved to the West Coast in the 1980s, he has undertaken over three dozen cross-country drives to visit them, experiencing over that time an incredible chunk of the intervening continent in its various aspects. This volume offers both a taste of his travel experiences, and specific recommendations for others to plan and begin their own such adventures, so that they too might discover the same length of road destinations, the same breadth of beauty, and the same depth of history, that he has. While his guardian angel has needed to work overtime on some of these excursions, he has always enjoyed a strong sense of the Lord's providential presence on these treks, so that travel on US interstates, wherever else he is heading, has always brought him closer to God. It is his hope that others will not only read and enjoy this book, but will allow it to launch them onto America's highways and byways, so that they too might not only hear the Creator talking to them through vastness and majesty, but also come to appreciate the many treasures that our nation has to offer.

During an era when millions of Jews fled the pogroms of Eastern Europe, the Titanic sailed on her maiden voyage. At the time, she was the largest and most luxurious ship ever built and many of her 2,200 passengers were Jewish. At 23:40, April 14, (28th of Nissan 5672) the Titanic swiped an iceberg and sank within two and a half hours. Most of her passengers lost their lives. The sinking of the Titanic was one of the worst and well known maritime disasters of the 20th century. The entire world mourned the Titanic. The grief was universal and shared by people of many nations and religions. This book focuses on the lives and deaths of the Jewish passengers who sailed on the Titanic. It covers various Jewish aspects of the voyage and of the sinking. Aspects, such as keeping kosher, the Agunot dilemma and Jewish burial. The book outlines the life story of the passengers and the effect the disaster made on world Jewry. This book is the result of a long research on the subject, including an attempt to compose a unique and complete list of all the Jews who sailed on the Titanic, and identifying many of them who were previously unknown.
