It is not the author's objective to provide an in-depth study of the history of cameos or their individual values. The purpose of this booklet is to inspire the novice collector to search for the absolute best quality cameo he or she is able to afford, and to provide an affordable pictorial reference for recognizing vintage and antique cameos. It is the author's hope that this booklet will enable the collector to make sound educated decisions about purchasing an individual cameo or building a meaningful collection. A quality picture can often portray what cannot be adequately expressed in the written word. The author provides 150 captivating color pictorial examples of this wearable art form, and clues to circa-dating antique and vintage cameos. As a bonus, included is a special section devoted to Damascene jewelry and the centuries-old process that artisans still use today to produce these magnificent works of art.
Why intellectualism, you may well ask. And, my answer would have to be-why not? Isn't it the "in" thing? The pressure is on to be an intellectual or at least to present a façade of intellectualism to a curious and waiting world. Unfortunately, there are many interesting things to do today that are vastly more relaxing and entertaining than the serious pursuit of knowledge. However, you can, by following the tips in my book, "bake your cake and eat it too." You can become an instant intellectual in a matter of a few hours (two hours?). Your family and friends will be astonished. You will be pleased and not at all exhausted by tiresome mental effort. Instant intellectualism is for the modern individual who would rather be happy than to think deep thoughts. A humor book for everyone. Marcia Muth is also the author of A World Set Apart, Memory Paintings; Writing and Selling Poetry, Fiction, Articles, Plays & Local History; How to Paint and Sell Your Art; Indian Pottery of the Southwest; Kachinas, A Selected Bibliography; Ma Frump's Cultural Guide to Plastic Gardening which won a first place award in the 2008 New Mexico Book Awards; Post Card Views and Other Souvenirs, Poems; Fake Ivory, New and Selected Poems; Sticks and Stones and Other Poems, Thin Ice and Other Poems; and Words and Images, Poems, all from Sunstone Press. Her biography, Left Early, Arrived Late, by Teddy Jones, also from Sunstone Press, was published in 2008. In 2006, she was named a Santa Fe Living Treasure in recognition of her many accomplishments.
Papers presented at a conference organised by the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England and the Garden History SocietyCollection of ten papers given at a conference organised by Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England and the Garden History Society in London in November 1996. The study of 18th century gardens in Norfolk from an archaeological point of view. Attention is focused on different kinds of designed landscape in time and space, on ways in which these landscapes were created and on the ways in which they related to the 'vernacular' landscape upon which they were imposed. The task was to supply information about distributions and chronology which is generally lacking in studies of eighteenth-century landscapes.
Each of the twelve chapters in this basic, practical book is preceded by an overview of the principles and procedures involved in the aspect of gardening under discussion. The overviews may be consulted before, during, and after the planting season when ordering supplies, carrying out maintenance, and doing overall troubleshooting. But the heart of The Gardeners Hint Book are the thousands of suggestions, clearly written to ensure successful gardening. Profusely illustrated with line drawings. This title, originally published in 1978, is available on-demand only.

With thirty plus years of experience in all aspects of landscape construction and property maintenance the Wright's impart invaluable, indispensable advice as only an industry insider can. "Sempervivum have long fascinated gardeners and are useful plants for gardening situations in which other plants might fail. Many people are aware of only a single, rather uninteresting green cultivar, but selections from the wild and the work of hybridizers have resulted in over 7,000 cultivars with a range in size from 1/2 in. to over one foot in diameter and colors from gold to black. Clearly the gardener has never had a better choice. This book covers all aspects of their history, taxonomy, culture, propagation, hybridizing, people involved in the production of Sempervivum, and a long list of cultivars that are recommended for the gardener. Color illustrations show not only the cultivars, but garden uses and cultural practices."--Amazon.com.
