Stories are all around us.They're in the TV and movies we so adore, in the video games we play, and of course in the books we read. They're in newspapers and magazines, too; in the conversations we share with old friends, and with new ones. They're on our mobile phones, in aeroplanes, in submarines, and even in our dreams. Our obsession with, and craving for, stories rests squarely with the way we are so absorbed by them, just as it does with the way we don't need to continually consider how and why they work. Most of the time, when reading or listening to stories, we forget that these tales have been shaped through the passage of time. Like pebbles in a river smoothed by rushing waters, they were honed through centuries of telling and retelling. The stories contained in this anthology are a fragment of a tradition that has shaped humanity, just as it has been shaped by humanity. At The Scheherazade Foundation we regard stories and storytelling as an achievement of our species equal in significance to the development of language, art, and architecture. We invite you to dip into the tales in this small treasury - gleaned as they are from various corners of the world- to reflect about them, and to consider the wisdom they hold.

Petra works hard - as the girl everyone knows, and as her alter ego The Crimson Hood - to keep the forests safe, help the victims of the Alpha Wars recover, and earn the money to buy the healing magic her grandmother desperately needs. Lupin just took over as Alpha, and is trying to put an end to the Alpha Wars that have plagued the forests for decades. If only he didn't have a pesky curse blackening his heart, and the Crimson Hood robbing him. When The Crimson Hood is hired to assassinate Lupin, and he finally gets his hands on the thief plaguing him, they are both shocked to discover their lives are connected in more ways than one. A mashup of Little Red Riding Hood and Robin Hood with an Alpha/Omega dynamic added in. This is a sexy, happily-ever-after soulmate novel with no cheating, fade to blacks, or cliffhangers. It's a fast-paced story that blends romance, mythology, humor, and adventure. While a little more of the overall story is revealed as the series progresses, the romance in each novel focuses on one couple and can be read as a standalone.

Perfect for fans of Madeline Miller's Circe, Jennifer Saint's Elektra, or Scarlett St. Clair's A Touch of Darkness, this story combines romance and Greek mythology in a twist of several famous myths. Across the Greek world, Hermes is known as the trickster. After centuries, he's leaned into the title and ignored the unfair reputation that comes with it. Hercules, the mortal hero, has already gained a fearsome reputation of his own. When he needs help to finish his last labor and gain immortality, there's only one god who will be able to help. After one drunken night of mistaken identity, Hermes and Hercules realize they have to come together to travel to the Underworld-if their hearts will survive the process. "The Trickster's Heart" is a mythological, historical fiction set in the ancient world; it is M/M and contains graphic violence, swearing, and sex scenes.

Odette Tchernine (c.¿1897-1992) was a British author, cryptozoologist, novelist and journalist. She was born in Paris to a Russian financier father, Dimitri Tchernine (Dmitry Chernin), and a French mother, Yvonne, from Toulouse. She grew up in Kensington and had a younger brother, Serge Tchernine. Odette Tchernine is best known for writing several books on the abominable snowman or yeti, such as In Pursuit of the Abominable Snowman, Taplinger Publishing, (1971). Before 'In Pursuit', she published The Snowman and Company. Initially a socialite and novelist, she earned a reputation from the 1950s through the 1970s "as one of Britain's most formidable monster hunters." This is her hitherto unpublished third cryptozoological book. In 'ALIVE...The Missing Link' Odette brings together evidence of bigfoot (and its counterparts) in an effort to encourage researchers and explorers to keep looking for the missing link between these mysterious beasts and the human race.Odette believed (and many others do too) that this link in human history to bigfoot has been either ignored or covered up for a very long time and she wanted to bring it out into the light of day, have it investigated, researched, and discussed as commonly as one would with any other branches of the 'tree' but was unfortunately unsuccessful before her passing in 1992.In her book, she highlights the difficulties in doing this from a political, moral and financial viewpoint but reminds the reader of the importance of keeping their mind open to every possibility and to keep fighting to find the truth. She also coins a new phrase in 'Anthropo-zoology' which she very much hoped would become a common term, to describe the study and research, to prove a biological link exists between bigfoot and humans. She believed some research had started to be taken seriously by a very select few individuals, but no serious research had been done since the 1970s. It has been the work of 'Fringe science' to investigate unexplained phenomena for centuries and she longed for this type of research to become more mainstream. We hope the publishing of this lost manuscript will help reignite the flame under this research and finally be able to prove that these incredible beasts are not just a cryptid hidden in the trees but perhaps distant cousins of ours or even much closer on the family tree than we think...Guin Palmer, the Assistant Director of the Centre for Fortean Zoology (CFZ), worked diligently on the manuscript which turned up in a North Devon Auction House. It was purchased accidentally by someone who - serendipitously - knew one of the senior members of the CFZ to whom he subsequently sold it.She also amassed a collection of reference material appertaining to Odette which can be found at this address: https://cfz.org.uk/more/odette-tchernine/

I, Tisiphone, am a Fury. My mission on Earth is to carry out the punishments humans deserve. So much for Christmas. "Screw it!" I say, loud and clear. I don't give a damn about this holiday, and I hate this time of year! As soon as Halloween's over (that's one killer holiday!), I'm off on vacation to Olympus. Except this year, as every four years, my pantheon is hosting the Council of Immortals. At the opening ball, my brother Cupid accidentally links me to another deity with his arrow, and from then on… everything goes to hell. But the worst part is that my future "father-in-law" is the only one who's delighted. In his opinion, a Fury should deliver a promising offspring. Am I allowed to kill him at Christmas dinner? I'm told not to… but I've never followed the rules before…A Christmas fantasy romance that differs from the classic tales.

If you liked Enter Through the Crawlspace and Enter Through the Bulkhead, you'll love this new collection of short stories, some of which bring back some of your favorite characters. See what's happening with the vampire, werewolf, alien (who now has a boyfriend), devil, angels, vengeful ghosts (aren't they usually?), and a talking house that provides a short history of Falmouth, Massachusetts. The author has added a persuasive gargoyle, a magical antique shop where every visitor comes out with something special, a music box that knows who's a good guy and who's a bad guy, three unusual friends who travel to Ireland, and even a young, highly evolved Coast Guard-loving whale who just wants to pay it forward. There is a surprise in every story to make you smile. Read the last chapter--last of course--to see what the characters think of each other!
