I decided to consolidate a number of my personal testimonies in this book for my children, grandchildren, and generations to come. I wish I had known my grandparents and other ancestors better. Had they written down some of their personal stories and testimonies it would have been a tremendous blessing. I hope this book will be a blessing and source of inspiration to all.
In ALL ENLISTED, Dr. Saxey reviews his time as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Austria from 1969 to 1971, a pivotal era in his life. Serving during the closing years of the Vietnam War while his brother and contemporaries were in the military, he compares and contrasts their respective experiences. Despite obvious differences, both mission and military service are parts of the greater conflict of good and evil, persuasion and force, a conflict that continues to this day. ALL ENLISTED consists largely of excerpts from contemporaneous journals and letters, providing a unique perspective on a turbulent time in history. For the author, they are fond memories of inspiring teachers, constant companions, and the many Austrians he came to know and love. Topics discussed include World Wars I and II as well as the Cold War, Vietnam, and the War on Terror and Islamo-fascism. ALL ENLISTED gives insight into the life and work of Mormon missionaries in the early 1970s, Latter-day Saint doctrine, the power of religious conversion, missionary health, and "coming of age" in the shadow of war, with beautiful scenes of Austria as a backdrop. This revised edition contains clarifications, details, and additional photos which were not included in the original publication.
In this memoir, the author describes how she escaped years of abuse after meeting and falling in love with Steve Nazaran, who helped her turn her life around.
Jasmina Siderovski advocates for world peace and unity as a humanitarian and philanthropist via her acclaimed brand, Empowering Your Soul - eYs. The secret behind her legacy is the early trials and tribulations of learning to integrate into a global society. Her vision celebrates different people, cultures, and contributions. The abstract art of anecdotes, based on an anthology of thoughts, quotes, and inspirational messages, captures the curious mind. Jasmina's knowledge is a gift of defining moments and gratification. Jasmina Siderovski builds a legacy of survival through her globally recognised quotes and sayings, deciphering her life and redefining her identity. Her outlook and vision enlighten her purpose in a rapidly changing and diverse society. The anecdotes challenge the way we think and how everyday life 'relates' in vigorous times of periodical development in a fast-paced world.
"Into the Shallows" traces the author's final days in Asia and her return to Wales and subsequent move to England, exploring a fourth dimension of acceptance and peace.
Why are we the way we are? How do we become who we are? All of my life, I've loved music. I love to sing! It's like therapy for me. I can think of a song for any phrase someone says. My brain just works that way. I have a song for every season of my life. There are songs that make me want to dance, songs that have gotten me through trials, and songs that have been anthems of victory. Our stories shape who we are. Let me tell you my story. Better yet, I'll sing it! Here is my life in a series of songs from childhood to around age 40.
This is a compilation of observations from the perspective of a morgue transporter. I took a break from the death care profession for several years and returned to briefly find it unchanged. During my most recent gig, I was doing long-distance morgue to funeral home deliveries. Previously, I did scene removals for local murders, suicides, and accidental deaths. I went into embalming after a term of military service during which I was trained in Mortuary Affairs. This led to a series of jobs centered around the disposition of human remains and I've acquired a well-rounded perspective on the industry. It's quite an undertaking and most are shielded from the worst of it. Hopefully, this book will give those who want to know more than they need.
He is a naturalized U.S. citizen, born in the Philippines eleven months before the Japanese invaded the country December 8, 1941 hours after Pearl Harbor. He survived the war and lived there till the age of twenty-four. In July 1965, two weeks after college, he ventured on a journey to America with a tourist visa and two hundred dollars in his pocket. He is now a retired U.S. Federal employee in the D.C. Capital area and has finally found time to finish this memoir, an autobiographical novel, recounting the first 21-year period of that journey: 1965-1986. *Ordinary Lives: A Journey Through America, is a newcomer's story of the unveiling of America, an illustration of a discovery, of an imagined world that didn't quite turn out to be the same as in the Hollywood movies he saw working as a full-time movie usher in Manila. The veil of innocence lifts slowly as the narrative progresses through the dismantling of the stereotypes of America stuck in his head since the war-from the virtuous images of G.I. Joe, John Wayne, Gary Cooper, Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable and the rest of those Hollywood icons; beautiful parks, neat houses behind manicured frontyards, clean streets and big-band parades, to crime in the streets, barred storefronts, race riots, unemployment, family breakup, poverty, prejudice and discrimination. While he faced these realities of life in America, he went through a process of assimilation that demanded the utmost of human determination to survive and stake out a place in society. The narrative covers flashbacks to the Japanese occupation of the Philippines, the build-up of the Vietnam War in the early sixties, the race conflict in the inner cities, the rise of the drug culture and liberalism in the extreme left of society. These from the point of view first of an innocent youth and later through that of a grown adult after breaking through the barrier of those stereotypes.
This book follows the year I turned 16, the good times, the bad times, the weird times and all the times in-between. My main purpose in publishing these diaries is to show other teenage girls, or even boys, that sometimes life sucks, but you will get through it, this is the first book of many, many more to come. They follow me through my life from 16 to now. I've been through a lot, I've seen a lot, at times I didn't think I would ever make it out alive, through depression, anxiety, medical problems, friendships lost and friendships gained, somehow I made it and I'm still here today. If I can help just one person to realise that things always get better, even when they seem they won't, my job is done. This is a very real and raw account of my life with very little censoring besides a few name changes of people who wished to remain anonymous, apart from that it is all as I wrote it at 16. You are not alone, you matter and I love you. Stay strong.

Feigin's book has that sweet impact that only time and distance can provide - this ex-muscovite-turned Kentucky 'blue blood' writes through the eyes of one voluntary displaced within a time warp of pathos and humor, and painfully 'good time' in the domestic land in the seventies. I've enjoyed every moment of this glorious freak show."-Steve Dalachinshy, a New York downtown poet
Life was good for Dr. Keith Vrbicky, in 2021. His obstetrics/gynecology practice and tele-medicine business in Norfolk Neb. thrived. A solid faith and family life sustained him and his wife Karyn. Blessed with good health, he endured the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic unscathed. Then things changed in the most dramatic of ways. Despite no history of heart disease, he learned that his heart was in free fall. Within two weeks of being diagnosed as an acute heart failure patient, he was placed on the transplant list. Suddenly, this fit, active physician found himself a bed-ridden, critical care patient requiring a team of experts to determine what was causing his crisis. Next level care kept his other organs from failing so that he could be a candidate to receive a new heart. The only catch: a matching organ had to be found within 48 hours. Miraculously, one became available and he gratefully accepted this gift of life. Through the ordeal, faith and family bolstered his spirits and world class care healed his body. His post-transplant recovery proceeded well enough that he was back to delivering babies and performing surgeries six months later. He's lived to escort a daughter down the aisle and to see another grandchild born. His new mission is to get more people to become organ and tissue donors so that they, too, can give the gift of life.

In 1973, Linda Pressman's Holocaust Survivor parents pack up their family of seven daughters and move cross country, from idyllic Skokie, Illinois, to the wild west - Scottsdale, Arizona - in a time of horse trailers, feed stores, and a church on every corner. A Jewish family plunked down in an alien world, her father transforms quickly into a Polish cowboy and the proud owner of a produce market, and her mother into a real estate agent trying to change the world one house at a time. In a coming-of-age story that is funny, tragic, and universal in its scope, the author recreates the 1970s in a story that proves that families can fall apart and put themselves together again. With one foot in Skokie and one in Scottsdale, Pressman recreates a world of teenage angst, silent crushes from afar, and an eternal pull towards home, wherever that is. "Linda Pressman brings her humor and keen eye for detail to this 1970s coming-of-age story set in Arizona. It's a tale about finding your place in an ever-changing world, something all of us can relate to." - Windy Lynn Harris, author of Writing & Selling Short Stories & Personal Essays: The Essential Guide to Getting Your Work Published "I adore [Pressman's] wit, [her] turns of phrase, and [her] observational humor.... There were so many individual sentences, paragraphs, and whole sections in here that I just loved - descriptions that perfectly brought back to life a moment from my own 70s youth that I'd long forgotten; character portrayals that nailed a person in a few sentences; dialogue that's truly authentic; and just so much cringe of coming of age. I'm wheeling out the highest of praise here..." - Theo Nestor, author of Writing is My Drink, and How to Sleep Alone in a King-Sized Bed "The road from Skokie to Scottsdale is filled with love, life lessons and so many sisters. Linda Pressman perfectly captures what it's like to be an outsider in a new town, in a story only she can tell. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll plotz -- in all the best ways."- Amy Silverman, author of My Heart Can't Even Believe It: A Story of Science, Love and Down Syndrome
