I decided to write this book as a tell-all, highlighting the testimonies and victories in my life that l've endured and persevered through faith. As a mother of four beautiful children, I came to realize that being chosen to become their mom meant I had to remain standing through all of life's tests and trials, ensuring that I pleased God in passing the tests, whether they were from God or man.Today, I can say that this piece is the end result of my journey in the cave.I have overcome many challenges, knowing that it was because of God's unconditional love for me, even though I didn't have to wonder how. I am grateful for the experiences, as they have been my best teacher. Wisdom has shaped my life through suffering, equipping me on many levels to help others be bold in their faith and allow God to reign over their lives, no matter what we face. Don't let your faith falter; instead, ask God for guidance and strength and learn from the lessons that come your way.Currently, I am the president of MeMentoring NFP, where I will utilize my expertise to guide others through their journeys of suffering, teaching them to embrace salvation and persevere. I will teach and train leaders to always keep their focus on God, not on man. Be obedient to God's word and trust in Him and the process, even in the face of enduring challenges. My abandoned heart has taught me to love myself more and to recognize that being over looked or disregarded allowed God more opportunity to fill those gaps. It was the best way to know God was concerned about me, even when others were selfish. God always provided an escape for me. Today is a better day; I'm out of the cave, and I'm not going back.

"Child of the 1960s: A Day in the Life," is Craig J. Carrozzi's seventh complete work. It is a memoir of a coming-of-age adolescent growing up in San Francisco's Mission District in the tumultuous 1960s. The author/narrator experiences both personally and through the mass media the Kennedy assassination, the end of the beatnik era, the beginning of the hippie era, abusive nuns at Catholic school, gang fights, Hell's Angels and Gypsy Joker bikers, race riots, the damaging effects of drugs, the flight of blue-collar jobs and people out of the city, and other epic events of the times along with an overview of the cultural zeitgeist of the decade. It is also features a good look at the local professional sport teams of the day. With looks at the San Francisco Giants, the then San Francisco Warriors and an especially close look at the San Francisco 49ers and their influence and impact on the youth of the community. The narrative is constructed upon a single momentous day, Sunday, December 18, 1966, and orbits around the young boy (almost 12) and his father going to an extremely rowdy NFL football game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Colts at historic Kezar Stadium located on the edge of the Haight-Ashbury and the foot of Golden Gate Park.(The game ended in a riot as the fans invaded the field and forced the officials to call the game a few seconds before the final gun.) The boy's dad is a World War II veteran of the Battle of Leyte Gulf (The largest naval battle in history.) who came of age during the Great Depression in poverty-stricken circumstances and sees the Sixties through this prism while the boy is feeling his way along and trying to come to grips with an ever-accelerating rate of ethnic and economic change in his Mission District micro-world and the great city beyond. In the course of this one-day journey, the story of his immediate family of seven, a mother who suffers a nervous breakdown while giving birth, a father, two brothers and two sisters of various ages, is told through flashbacks and leaps into the future. The background of his four immigrant grandparents, Italian and French, is also sketched into the picture. With special emphasis on the grandfather who survived the 1906 Earthquake and Fire that leveled San Francisco. The narrative is written in an easygoing vernacular style which reflects the racial and ethnic diversity of the neighborhood with a strong Latin American flavor. As noted in the story, it was a "Rainbow Coalition Neighborhood" long before Jesse Jackson came up with the term. In the postscript, the author recaps his life of travel and adventure and how his Mission District neighborhood influenced him to make some of the choices he selected.
¿Te atreverÃas a cuestionar tu propia historia?
Recently extended edition. Original drawings, some original and recent photos. "Drancy" - over 72,000 words, The true story is based on the account of a fourteen-year-old British schoolboy who became a prisoner within a notorious concentration camp. This is a true story of a 14-year-old boy from England who lied about his age to fulfil his childhood dream, to see the world. This story starts from the day he left Liverpool at just over fourteen years old some three years before World War II. The account takes you from the first day he steps on board the SS Division through to his time in Drancy and eventual return home after the war. The story describes, but not in gruesome detail, the inhuman horrors of Drancy concentration camp that were kept hidden. The book also covers the fears he had, his hopes and dreams all dashed and then a final battle in 1993 with a British tribunal that refused to accept Drancy as a concentration camp even though Germany and Israel recognised it as such. Others around the world deny Drancy was a concentration camp the holocaust deniers being at the top of the list, referring to it as just a 'transit' camp. The following statement is in the 1993 tribunal transcript (copy in the book), quote, 'under the legal definition that we apply in the United Kingdom, we do not accept that Drancy was a concentration camp', unquote! This goes against all the evidence from Israel, Germany and the USA The only record the Liverpool Maritime Museum has is that Thomas Roscoe was sent to one P.O.W. camp, Milag-Nord. They had no idea that other camps were involved. They were shocked to see the tribunal transcript about the Drancy concentration camp that Thomas was in. A Film Treatment is available to legitimate film production companies.

This book contains numerous short stories as seen through the eyes of a dusty old baker. The stories are made up of observations, history, and imagination, as the author watches the world go by as he sits at the large table in the middle of his bakery.
From the author: My purpose for writing this book was two-fold. In fact, I had initially planned to write two small books. One, on the search for the child I had given up for adoption at birth...and the other, about the mystical experiences that occurred during those years. This book is a combination of those two subjects.I hoped by writing this book that adoptees would realize this: Whether or not you know your original, first, natural, or birth mother, she has not forgotten you. Not every birth mother is able to search for her child, for a variety of reasons, but that does not mean you are not in her heart.Intertwined with the search are my experiences with the metaphysical world, and how clues that led me were so vividly brought to my attention. In fact, there is a world beyond our vision, a world that co-exists with us, and comes to our aid even when we do not seek the help of the powers there.I hope this book uplifts you, enlightens you and introduces to you a different experience...and maybe that voice you hear in your heart is not your imagination, but someone real who loves you.God Bless.
Mako Yoshikawa's father, Shoichi, was a man of contradictions. He grew up fabulously wealthy in prewar Japan but spent his final years living in squalor; he was a proper Japanese man who craved society's approval yet cross-dressed; he was a brilliant Princeton University physicist and renowned nuclear fusion researcher, yet his career withered as his severe bipolar disorder tightened its grip. And despite his generosity and charisma, he was often violent and cruel toward those closest to him. Yoshikawa adored him, feared him, and eventually cut him out of her life, but after he died, she was driven to try to understand this extraordinarily complex man. In Secrets of the Sun, her search takes her through everything from the Asian American experience of racism to her father's dedication to fusion energy research, from mental illness to the treatment of women in Japan, and more. Yoshikawa gradually discovers a life filled with secrets, searching until someone from her father's past at last provides the missing piece in her knowledge: the story of his childhood. Secrets of the Sun is about a daughter's mission to uncover her father's secrets and to find closure in the shadow of genius, mental illness, and violence.

This book is an inspirational, first-hand account of the life of a Congolese refugee whose life has taken a new turn after moving to Australia. Zigashane had spent his childhood in the war-ravaged eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), where life was characterised by constant fear, abduction, murder, starvation and hopelessness. His family first ran and sought refuge in the neighbouring Tanzania, where he spent years in a refugee camp before being resettled in Australia. In this book, Zigashane shares his difficult past, and also paints a picture of a brighter future as a means of encouraging his readers that, no matter the circumstances we face in this life, there always comes better days. He also uses the book to inspire other refugees, especially those who have just been resettled, to embrace their new life and home, and work for a better future.
I joined the ranks of the blind in 2005 at the age of 60. Cornea dystrophy combined with glaucoma has gradually destroyed my eyesight and significantly changed my life. I have been encouraged by many folks to record my experiences as I transitioned from sight to sightlessness. Thus began the writing of short 400 to 500 word essays, the compilation of 30 essays into my first book entitled Blindsight, another 30 essays into my second book which I have entitled The Blind Side, and again, 30 essays into this book, Blind Walker. My hope is to share, to encourage, and to inspire you, the reader, as I tell stories of my life as a blind guy.
"Jesse's Bullet Train - Mexicali's Yellow Days" is the true story of a U.S. Citizen who had to go live in Mexico as a child when his parents were deported from the USA in the spring of 1958.It is a personal record of events, experiences, and observations narrated as a contribution to the art of communicating self-awareness techniques, and the processes used for connecting with people to create meaningful support systems; a collection of memories that relate to a culture of poverty in a foreign country. From the perspective of a blind man (Jesse has a rare genetic condition that affects his central nervous system; especially his eyes causing optic nerve atrophy that resulted in partial blindness at an early age).Add to this exceptional circumstance, the awkwardness experienced when your family is deported to a border town of Mexico and enter into a new way of life that only led to extreme impoverishment. How he managed to return to the USA where he felt like a stranger, struggled to learn English and to obtain his general education and managed to become a successful vocational rehabilitation counselor. These humble passages describe his struggles, and his techniques for overcoming them. He gives his secret for dealing effectively with adversity, and what worked for him for reaching his achievements.Jesse has a peculiar way of viewing exceptional circumstances, as opportunities for sprouting professional unsubstantial qualities for the individual that is ready for the undertaking, key to making excellent social workers, and counselors. Here he relates his stick-to-itiveness and gives guidance to do the same with practical advice to illustrate the plot well. His 30-year tenure as Rehabilitation Counselor evolved in an all-encompassing relationship with his community and connects it with his home life on Mexican culture upbringing (born in California but raced in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico).Describes his life in the USA (prior to and when he returned as a teenager) in 1968 and faced culture shock straight on.Being partially blind, Hispanic, non-English speaking and as an underprivileged child; how he benefited from the experience of doing hard labor; then connected with existing social networks; adult ed (stimulating learning of job trades, further education and good citizenship); the Welfare System (providing protective services/foster care, Medical benefits, food and shelter); the Independent Living movement (promoting independent living for disabled individuals), and the Affirmative-Action laws (opening doors in the educational system to minorities and advocating in government programs which used to be exclusive of a majority of citizens). He learned how to take part in whatever community action programs that were just entering the political scene of the era. Taking advantage of any opportunities, or anything that would help in moving up in the world. He describes his whole educational experiences, and how he imitated his own vocational rehabilitation counselor and consequently, dedicated 30 years of his life committed to serving persons with disabilities when he could have stayed on welfare benefits. He describes some of his successful work, and failures. He shares personal experience, counseling philosophies and advice; not as a scientific document but as a gift that he wants to share with humanity. He hopes this will be an inspiring story for other persons with disabilities pursuing a triumphant American Dream. This book is recommended for High-school students, and older readers (2016 - Reedited 2023).
