An autobiographical summary of Dave Wolin's racing career; how a suburban kid from upstate New York somehow made a career out of the racing business.
Te invito a barajarlos.

It has been a long journey, trying to finish this book, but God knows my heart. I want to be done with this book because it was and still is a blessing to me because of my Spiritual Father, Bishop Rance Lee Allen. I wanted him to get the first copy of "43, My New Life." I am blessed and I know that Bishop Allen saw it in me. So when you read this book, everything is the truth. My pastor, my spiritual father, and my bishop would tell you that. I don't believe in lying to people. So please enjoy. I love everybody.
The author utilizes metaphor, simile and the occasional reference to make one ponder and self-reflect. Through the use of streams of conscious, he encourages self-hypnosis or creative visualization that allows us to imagine our capabilities or to see our possibilities before making changes in our lives. Stressing the importance of remaining child-like when appropriate, allowing whimsey and daydreaming to stay an active exercise in our lives, the author stresses the importance of seeing what we are looking at, like a visual artist, but with word usage. A repeated theme places us on a cruise ship, staring out to where the sea meets the sky. By allowing ourselves to look outside of ourselves, we try to find meaning in our lives. Another repeated theme is that of defining or characterizing entities in ways to establish order and place expectations so that we conform or behave in ways as others would expect us to perform or behave. The author would encourage us to challenge such defining and characterizations, in order to develop a stronger sense of who we are. Bonus writings relating to changes imposed upon us by Covid and other World events, should seem meaningful to all of us, and likely in very different ways. Do you think we have learned anything from our Covid experiences? Would the author's use of metaphor improve how we see ourselves, and our places in other people's lives? Spotting a sea serpent along the voyage would add even more self-awareness and insight.
A lyrical memoir that begins in a quiet Vermont village with memories of Marilyn's parents, who own a popular restaurant and lively night spot that sits next to their home. While her mother disappears into addiction, Marilyn grapples with feelings of abandonment, though she recalls being uplifted by the village, by her dreams, and by the kindness of others. In young adulthood, she lands on a beautiful estate known as Shelburne Farms, where she helps to launch valuable movements for the region: local food and farmers' markets, outdoor childhood education, and the stewardship of natural resources. But her work is not without cost to her personal life. She discovers that her interest in protecting the outer world begins to heal her inner self. The two are deeply intertwined.Attic of Dreams examines family dysfunction while humor counters tragedy, and forgiveness counters blame. Trust and love emerge as the journey home to wholeness continues.
It was a secret she had been carrying around for 35 years until that fateful day: September 25, 2022. The secret came out, and her life was forever changed. That was the day the anchor was cut, and she needed to do serious internal work before anything could get better. Carrying a secret of this magnitude for so long took its toll on her health, relationships, and happiness. Her early childhood was where her limiting beliefs about herself began, and this was followed by anorexia, depression, abortion, rape, abusive relationships, infidelities, suicide attempts, chronic fatigue syndrome, two failed marriages, single parenting, finding out later in life she had ADHD, dealing with all her neurodiversities, and, of course, the big secret. This is her journey of self-discovery, strength, overcoming obstacles, transformation, and learning to love herself completely-imperfections and all.
Women like Zoë Read aren't supposed to thrive: dyslexic with severe ADHD, she embraced a kind of grit that says hard work leads to happiness. From law school, to medical school, to Stanford University, Zoë achieved the impossible dream. But she hated who she was inside. In A New Kind of Grit, wellness physician and activist Zoë Read M.D. unearths the power we discover when we ignore conventional wisdom and follow our intuition. An inspiring memoir and passionate call to action, this is the story of how one woman learned to embrace her rebel spirit and rise. It is the story of how all women can begin to trust themselves, leverage their anger, guard their mental health, and unleash a life of storytelling, exploration, and connection.A New Kind of Grit is a roadmap to authentic living. As Zoë insists: The more rebellious we are, the more authentic we become.
When a young economics researcher decides to embrace change and takes a teaching position on a whim, she enters the job with confidence. It doesn't take long until she feels as though she is tumbling downhill, backward and blindfolded, just as one of her students did while skiing, before having to take him to the hospital. After her job morphed into a career, Jean A. Miller Mariner retired with immeasurable lessons to share-for math and for life. Turning from backward and blind to forward and focused, she witnessed the identical pivot for her students over the years and penned these hilarious, complex, and heart-warming tales to demonstrate.Ms. Miller Mariner's story collection is a gift for all the teachers out there, and for the students who drove them to become better educators (even while, like her, they may have been the one steering the bus). Here the good math teacher adds humor to the unthinkable and subtracts nothing, leaving us with one question with absolute value: Who helps whom turn each other's lives around?
This light-hearted and illustrated adventure story is based on the author's personal memories of a tour of China. He hopes it illustrates some of the wonderful scenery he saw, and the wildlife he encountered, as well as the magnificent imperial sites he visited. Part of his journey took him on a cruise down the Yangtze River to witness the world's largest Dam and beautiful gorges lined with limestone peaks. All the royalties from this book will be donated to a Cancer Charity.
This is a riveting, yet inspirational book that will touch the hearts of all those who venture into the lives of these four generations of women. Despite the generations of tragedies, Susan's life has completely changed, and she no longer lives under the cloud of despair. Her own hope and happiness were reborn through the faith and prayers of those around her. All the tragic events of her life and the generations before her have given her a greater strength and endurance for a future of happiness and peace no matter what comes her way. She came through all the diversity a stronger, more compassionate person, willing to embrace those who suffer--an example that gives others hope for their future. She believes God desires to walk with all of us, through all our trials and tribulations, to bring healing and inner peace and an end to the cycle of despair.

As the sun set with crimson colors. I placed bright summer flowers on each grave. 'Help me to do what I should do with my life,' I said to my sons. It was clear what my path should be. Where does the impulse to create come from? What are the forces that shape an artist's work? This ground-breaking book, a unique interplay of narrative and image, charts the making of one of America's greatest artists. As Sally Mann tells her story, her work's preoccupation with family, race, mortality, and the storied landscape of the American South is revealed as almost genetically predetermined, written into her DNA by the family history that precedes her.Sorting through boxes of family papers and yellowed photographs she finds more than she bargained for: "deceit and scandal, alcohol, domestic abuse, car crashes, bogeymen, clandestine affairs, dearly loved and disputed family land . . . racial complications, vast sums of money made and lost, the return of the prodigal son, and maybe even bloody murder."In lyrical prose and startlingly revealing photographs, she crafts a totally original form of personal history that has the page-turning drama of a great novel but is firmly rooted in the fertile soil of her own experience. This is the record of an artist's life, and a meditation on place, people, family, and the nature of creativity itself.
