Winner of the 1998 Pulitzer, Guns, Germs, and Steel attempts to answer why human history unfolded differently on different continents. Drawing on evidence from a diverse range of disciplines, Diamond argues that the varying rates of human development over the past 13,000 years have had little to do with genetic superiority.

Introducing The Neville Goddard Collection. It has been my pleasure to devote my time to improving one of the best books available, in my humble opinion, and give students of Neville a more enjoyable reading experience. What's new in The Neville Goddard Collection? For starters I have reformatted his entire collection of 10 books. This makes it easier to read, understand and comprehend. I have also added 2 of his more famous lectures, The 1948 Class Lessons and The 1951 Radio Talks, making this the most complete Neville book available. While his 10 books covers most of his material, I felt what was missing is now covered in these 2 lecture series. From inside the bookEditors NotesThere are many noticeable differences in this collection of Neville Goddard's books that you are not likely to find in any other of his books or collections. As a student of metaphysical literature, I have come to appreciate the value of having a well formatted book which has greatly enhanced my learning curve. It was with this in mind that I have undertook this project, a labor of love, in reformatting, revamping and restructuring the entire layout of Neville's 10 books as well as two of his finest lecture series, the 1948 Classroom Lessons and July 1951 Radio Lectures/Talks.My reason for this is simple. It is easier for me, and I believe for anyone, to absorb the material of any book, especially a book of this caliber, when the formatting or layout isn't a distraction to the reader and allows them to put all their efforts and concentration into the content itself, which after all is the main purpose of studying a book such as this. I believe this new formatting will maximize and facilitate the students time as well as enhance the overall experience of studying the world's greatest mystic's teachings. I feel I have created an ambiance which will allow the reader to absorb the material with much greater ease.Changes . . . Improvements MadeWider margins, improved formatting/layout, chronological order of the year the books were originally published rather than alphabetical, with the exception of the 1948 Classroom Lessons and 1951 Radio Talks, which have been placed at the back of the book.I have left the chapter indexes out at the beginning of each book. Rather, I direct you to the master index at the end of the book, should you choose to locate your favorite chapters or books. There is a Book Directory at the beginning. The title page of each book now has the original year of publication for that specific book.I have also changed the headings. This will make it easier to know where you are in the book, while reading it, which I feel is important considering this book contains several different books and lectures. Each page heading now shows the title of the book . . The chapter number . . and the chapter title. This makes for an easy reference point no matter where you are in the book during your studies.I have removed the reference to verses (such as John 1:1) from all scripture and instead have centered and italicized each one, as to set it apart from Neville's teachings of that scripture. I believe the point he was making was about scripture and which actual verse it was, had no actual bearing on those interpretations.I have reserved 10 Pages for Notes, placed at the end of the book. This makes it more convenient, when referring back to them, rather than flipping through the book looking for specific notes. Also I have included suggested reading of other books at the end of the book, for those readers who are seeking more truth, from this mystical world we all live in.David Allen
The Aurea Catena Homeri, written in German by Dr. Anton Josef Kirchweger, was first printed in 1723, though it was distributed in a handwritten format prior to that time. It is said to be one of the most important books ever created giving insight into alchemy-the idea that all creation, no matter what its nature, is closely interconnected, that a deeply secret connection pervades all of nature, that one thing relates to the next and things depend upon each other. In The Golden Chain of Homer, editors Gregory S. Hamilton and Philip N. Wheeler provide an English translation of Aurea Catena Homeri, complete with frequent, detailed footnotes and extensive commentary that offers a detailed analysis and insight into Kirchweger''s work, considered a masterpiece of alchemical literature. The Golden Chain of Homer shows Kirchweger''s book in a new, enlightening way. Through this translation, it becomes easier to understand alchemical principles and unveil the mysteries that shroud the science of alchemy.
At the beginning of the 21st century, science and philosophy are at the crossroads. The achievements of science and technology in the previous century are unparalleled in history. They provide the potential for the solution of all the problems faced by the planet, and equally for its total destruction. Allegedly scientific theories are being used to "prove" that criminality is caused, not by social conditions, but by a "criminal gene." Black people are alleged to be disadvantaged, not because of discrimination, but because of their genetic make-up. Similar arguments are used for poor people, single mothers, women, and so on. Of course, such "science" is highly convenient for right wing politicians intent on ruthlessly cutting welfare. In the field of theoretical physics and cosmology there is a growing tendency towards mysticism. The "Big Bang" theory of the origin of the universe is being used to justify the existence of a Creator, as in the book of Genesis. For the first time in centuries, science appears to lend credence to religious obscurantism. Yet that is only one side of the story. A growing number of scientists are becoming discontented with the old outlook. The rapid rise of the theory of chaos and complexity is one of the most significant developments in science at the present time. Many of the ideas expressed by this new trend are strikingly similar to the theories of dialectical materialism worked out by Marx and Engels over 160 years ago. A significant part of this present work is devoted to an explanation of the relationship between Marxist philosophy and the new theories. Will this encounter provide the basis for a new and exciting breakthrough in the methodology of science?
Deciphers sounds and silences buried within the ghostly horrors of Arthur Machen, Shirley Jackson, Charles Dickens, M R James and Edgar Allen Poe, Dutch genre painting from Rembrandt to Vermeer, artists as diverse as Francis Bacon and Juan Munoz, and the writing of many modernist authors including Virginia Woolf, Samuel Beckett, and James Joyce.
This classic work of Chinese mysticism was written over 2500 years ago. It author was Li Er, an enlightened sage and scholar known to the world as Lao Tzu (Venerable Master), who espoused a philosophy of the Way, or 'Tao': a method of non-striving existence, an effortless 'going with the flow'. Poetic, Humorous, Wise, Deep-hearted, and at times frustratingly enigmatic, the 'Tao Te Jing' is required reading for any student of mysticism and philosophy. It is also the perfect antidote to our contemporary materialist culture of acquisition and self-aggrandisement.
A remarkable journey through the hidden dimensions of our inner world . . .Soul-Centered Healing: A Psychologist's Extraordinary Journey into the Realms of Sub-Personalities, Spirits, and Past LivesWhen clinical psychologist Tom Zinser started working with multiple personality patients, he had no way of anticipating where his work would ultimately lead.Using hypnosis, Zinser learned how to communicate directly with the sub-personalities that, he eventually learned, exist even in healthy individuals. Oftentimes this therapeutic technique would lead to healing and psychological integration. But other times, it would lead to confusing or frustrating results. While he made substantial progress, Zinser also reached a professional impasse. The breakthrough came when Zinser was approached by Katharine Mackey, a secretary in his office, who channeled a spirit named Gerod through automatic writing. Gerod, it seemed, was interested in communicating with the psychologist. Zinser approached the suggestion of "meeting" Gerod with a cautious but curious mind, only to be astonished by the clinically useful information that Gerod provided. Gerod claimed the ability to see directly into the souls of Zinser's clients, and provided very specific guidance on how to help each one. Equally important, Gerod sketched out a map of the human soul, its structure, and destiny, far wider than models provided by clinical psychology. What started out as an experiment turned into an amazing fourteen-year collaboration with more than 650 sessions between Gerod and Dr. Zinser. These sessions enabled Zinser to breach the impasse, guiding his clients to integration at a much deeper, spiritual level. The collaboration also lead the author to a wider understanding of the soul's structure and journey, explained in this book.Soul-Centered Healing is not a book about channeling, but about the importance of seeing our own psyche in a larger context. This compelling, mind-opening account - sure to be controversial - reveals the landscape of a larger psychic and spiritual reality, of which we are a part.
The Book on the Living God, The Book on Life Beyond and this book form a trilogy. These three books should be read together. The Book on Human Nature presents basic concepts about human nature with the goal of inspiring readers to awaken the timeless, spiritual spark within. We become fully human only when the spiritual potential within us gradually awakens and infuses our material, purely animal selves. It is a path that every human being may and should pursue. A central understanding is that all life results from the joining of opposites, in particular, the polarity of male and female energies. Bô Yin Râ emphasizes that the true spiritual human being is male and female united in one entity; when we seek our spiritual self, we must call forth the male and female in ourselves and in all things. He discusses the biblical fall from grace as a descent from the spiritual plane, in which male and female were united, onto a material plane, in which male and female are split apart. Here on earth, this split can be healed within marriage. A true marriage, Bô Yin Râ tells us, is preparation for the life beyond: by coordinating the desires, wills and attitudes of two beings we once again bring about, in some measure, the original state in which male and female energies are united. The Kober Press publishes the only English translations of the books of Bô Yin Râ authorized by the Kober Verlag, Switzerland. The Kober Verlag publishes the books of Bô Yin Râ in the original German and has protected their integrity since the author's lifetime. Contents: Introduction. The Mystery Enshrouding Male and Female. The Path of the Female. The Path of the Male. Marriage. Children. The Human Being of the Age to Come. Epilogue. A Final Word.
