Seitdem die GeschGeh-RL durch Inkrafttreten des GeschGehG umgesetzt wurde, existiert auch in der deutschen Rechtsordnung eine ausdrücklich normierte Legaldefinition für Geschäftsgeheimnisse. Obwohl die GeschGeh-RL schon im Jahr 2016 und das GeschGehG im Jahr 2019 in Kraft getreten sind, belassen es die Rechtsprechung und Literatur immer noch häufig dabei, keine größeren Ausführungen zum wirtschaftlichen Wert zu machen. Der Autor hat es sich in seiner Dissertation zur Aufgabe gemacht, die hiesige Forschungslücke zu schließen, und hat sich hierbei für einen interdisziplinären Ansatz an der Schnittstelle zwischen Ökonomie und Jurisprudenz entschieden.
