This volume presents theoretical and empirical research on universities and their entrepreneurial ecosystems to better grasp the connections between universities and their surrounding environments and their engagement with sustainability. The book provides a better understanding of the entrepreneurial characteristics of universities. It examines the ways in which universities'' collaboration and participation in an ecosystem support business and industry transformation. It also investigates how universities function within the university/industry/government/third sector relationship nexus. The book enables the systematisation of the literature while simultaneously builds theory, empirically testing existing theories, and contributes towards a future research agenda geared towards sustainability. The book gathers contributions from varied geographical contexts providing an international perspective.
Based on recognition, evaluation, and exploitation of opportunities, entrepreneurship is a process that stimulates economic growth, provides us with new products and services, and serves as a solution to low unemployment rates. Hence, many governments encourage their citizens to embrace entrepreneurship as a strategy to mitigate unemployment, particularly youth and graduate unemployment. While studies show that entrepreneurship education has yielded positive results in Western countries, in other parts of the world it seems that most students still prefer to seek paid employment in their career of choice. Promoting Entrepreneurship to Reduce Graduate Unemployment seeks to expand understanding of the barriers that face graduates in becoming entrepreneurs in various countries, examining the role of educational institutions in promoting graduate entrepreneurship and evaluating governments as well as other schemes that promote graduate entrepreneurship. Although it will not be a panacea for all the obstacles that impede graduate entrepreneurship, it is hoped that this book will illuminate the entrepreneurship career path, serve as a platform for further diagnosis for reducing graduate unemployment, and highlight areas in need of further research. Covering topics such as entrepreneurial self-efficacy, career choice, and educated unemployment, it serves as a dynamic resource for educators, educational administration and faculty, government institutions, graduate students, student organizations, professionals, researchers, and academicians.

Human resources are the most important and costliest assets in businesses of any nature and size, no matter where they are based in the world. Talent management is a key managerial function in MNCs and other organisations with a global presence, but its importance in small businesses and start-ups cannot be overlooked. At its most basic level, managing people in small businesses encompasses compliance with the applicable labour laws, hiring, and creating a channel for dealing with employee issues. The price of not having the right employees in a small business can be extremely high. Workers who are inefficient or in the wrong role can have critical consequences on the sustainability of a small business. While most entrepreneurs focus on marketing, finance, operations, and customers in their initial stages, this means that they at times fail to establish and address their HR function and the associated challenges that, if overcome, may help the organisation to meet all of its targets. This book aims to highlight these HR challenges and shed new light on how to answer them.
A Framework for Building a Digital Economy tells the story of success of BoDE - Builders of Digital Economy - and how it came out of the technological and digital world. While management techniques have advanced, the best use of a company's most valuable resource - its people - lags. The success of a business depends on the people it employs. A company also needs to navigate the consistent rapid changes in every aspect of business today. Customers' demands are always changing, markets are diversified, and the competition is on a global basis, not just locally or on a national scale.
As 2022 progresses, the legacy of the Covid pandemic coupled with the after-effects of Brexit on trade and supply chains and rising energy costs have compounded business leaders' problems. Any 'new normal' is not yet within our grasp. Established businesses, start-ups or early-stage companies will need resilience and flexibility in recalibrating their offerings or completely reconfiguring their business plans. In all cases, innovation and flair are key. In Grow and Evolve Your Business contributors look at these problems from two directions. Part One focuses on the development of entrepreneurial skills and tools for growth generation and includes a dissertation on the severe risks to cybersecurity daily afflicting all growing businesses. Part Two reminds us of management fundamentals and the threats that can trip us up and ambush corporate growth. New business owners and managers need to take this advice on board and managers of established businesses are invited to take the time to revisit current practice. The book offers directions through which companies can 'build back better.'
